Lot of new channels , new shows and most importantly new formats are coming up. Good for the indian tv industry. 😊 Hopefully this will lead to mini series , seasonal shows and ofcourse the daily soaps will continue ...

Whats important is that the TRP evaluation system needs to get better else these niche channels will suffer .

Overall TV industry is expanding like anything ...good news for actors / crew who work in the tv industry. Lots of opportunities ...

Yes you have heard it right; AfterSony TV, Zee TV is all set to launch a new channel which will have new fictional serials. The parent channel is going to give a tough competition to Sony TV who is also set to launch its new channel by next month.

Our source says, "Zee wanted to launch its new channel since long but now that Sony has already set the time of its new venture, Zee is going to wait patiently and launch its channel by August or November. Nothing has been decided on the launch date."

Zee is already coming up with Zindagi, how different will be this new channel from the latter? "Zindagi has the stories featuring from Pakistan where as the new channel will have stories by Indian producers. The difference is going to be that there won't be daily soaps in it. It will consist of different series with limited episodes like Games of Throne. At least that's what I've heard," adds the source.

"Zee has started taking auditions for the shows which will feature on their new channel. Though they are trying very hard to keep things under wrap as till the official announcement, Zee doesn't want to disclose about their big launch," concludes the source.

Well it's going to be interesting to see the competition between two main GEC channels. Now only time will decide of who wins the race? We wish them luck.

The part that interests me the most is about the absence of daily soaps and trying to do the new format of limited episodes soaps. Good way to start off ... try it out on a new channel completely. They tried with Tumhari Paakhi ... and then fell into the same rut of extending the show because trps were good.

I guess with digitalization, TRP meters will become obsolete ... there must be more accurate ways of getting the info from the set top boxes directly. And this will probably help to stratify viewers and shows into categories ... what types of shows appeal to what segment of viewers.

And on their other channel, starting tomorrow, they're showing shows 7 days a week! 😆 Am planning to catch Zindagi Gulzar Hai, at least the first few episodes.

TV is expanding hugely ... like there was a change in BW a few years ago, and a shift from mindless masala movies, to smaller films with good content, we might be looking at a similar shift in TV in the coming years.

Speaking of mindless masala movies, has anyone seen Hamshakals? 😆

Diya ...humshakals Kabhi nahin ...but I do see masala movies , saw akshay's holiday ...it was decent. You need to be in a different frame of mind to watch them 😆
