Visiji, actually this is what I learnt in my Sanskrit class about the origin of wearing jewelry on the wedding day(no idea how far it is the correct origin)

- Actually women were of high position in olden times and no idea when the marriage has turned into Kanyadaan down the lane. Marriage in olden times was known as Kanyadaan and when you give daan be it of a cow or a girl, you are supposed to adore the person or the animal with the jewelry you can afford. Daan is never supposed to be given bare and hence you have the person or the animal to be adored with jewelry and good clothes. That is why during many marriages you have these things put on for symbolic sake like all the maharastrians wear nathani on the wedding day. The important part of the marriage is still called Kanyadaan - as in you are giving the girl away. I wouldn't necessarily say it is transfer of ownership but yes down the lane it got changed into the ownership funda. Either way it is depressing as in older times women had the right to choose whom to marry and whom to go with but now it has reduced to been given away.

Did anyone catch the promos of John Travolta and Kevin Spacey doing lungi dance for IIFA? Seems like the program is going to come on air on Star Plus. I don't know if I have it in me to watch the show.

NaMo Ve
Hope everyone is enjoying bondeful bhether outside.

Howie, since you have an inside connection thanks to Ruqs, may be you can answer couple of nagging questions.
- Does Jodha use a funnel to drink water. Or they have special tiny pyalas??
- What happens when she has to blow her nose?

Thankfully such petty practical issues don't affect Mallika-E-Sopystan. So Chalata Hai...

Finally the logistics worked out and we are going on a road trip to Coorg and Madkeri. We will be going in our vehicle Xylo and would be touching all the important places in North Karnataka like Hampi, Hubli, Madkeri, Shimoga and since it is the beginning of raining season this be the best time to visit in car when it is not too wet nor too dry. So this be 1 whole week of roaming starting next saturday. Really can't wait for the vacation to start but mostly would not be taking my laptop so no IF for 1 week.

- EHT :- As the show goes on I am really getting impressed by the main characters. And Durga is a gutsy person to play her plan in front of Shaurya without flinching. Sanjeeda was good in the confrontation of Shaurya whereas Vatsal was strictly ok. And I was correct when I said the precap was sach.

- YHM :- The love track of Raman and Ishitha has started but can please Karan shave. I mean seriously seeing the guy with beard day in/day out is putting me off.

- TP:- The new promo of Tumhaari Paakhi is good. Looks like the 3 main characters converge in Delhi - Paakhi/Anshuman and Anshuman's mom. I liked the way they have sketched the character of Paakhi and I could again relate to her. Dekhte hain front front how this goes.

@Visiji:- What I mean to say in my snippet about Kanyadaan was that the reason women started to be decked with jewelry was because daan basically was never given bare.
