In SJ, this lady from Action Aid asks AK a question - You are walking on the street and a dog bites you. Do you lose your dignity, your respect?? No, in fact your neighbours, your family all sympathise with you, they support and help you. But when a woman is raped, it's shameful, it's a disgrace & even shunned by society! Where is the logic there?

This is so poignant for me... No matter how many laws are there, it's the people who have to change. Unless that happens, no law will be helpful to women!

Sama, I don't watch the show any more, but one of the things that put me off is the total lack of respect for women that the character Rudra has. I cannot connect with his so called "pain" and just cannot understand why he does the things he does.
But one thing, Rudra is shown to have all these grey shades and the possibility of bettering himself. Paro is this good girl who has a MU! Once the MU is cleared, what is left is a good girl and how much can this character grow? This is going to go like IPK, change the character so that the story can move forward and that we know spells disaster!!!
And it's suspicious that the dad who hates beautiful women is all buddy buddy with Paro! Did he forget all his wife who left him?

@bold: they had such a nice plot where they could have redeemed this. That he actually cares for Laila because of the love she has been showering for years. Not talk rudely with his Bhabi or even Kaki. Yes she is mean and rude but an elder. Keep that respect. No need to go all mawali on her. Having trust issues and disrespecting something is 2 different issues.

@bold underlined: actually you got to have a character sketch for it to be changed. I do not see it for the leads in this show.

@italic: that is actually an interesting angle to the show if explored.

This is the absolute fact but this is for aftermath. Such vultures will only think twice for the fear of life and nothing else. There has to be harsh punishment and no underage or any other issue should not be counted.

Also jokes as for example Amir Khans 3 Idiots movie. The balatkhar joke ... It was the most shared clippings for BW watchers at that time. Certain issues should not be joked about. "Iska toh balatkhar hogayi" is still one of the common line used.

See in Arnav, I always would question why is he rude to Khushi, but treats Anjali, Mami, Nani etc with respect... And that made me try to understand Arnav as a character. In Rudra all I see is a horrible man; a man who has zero respect for women! And that puts me off. I haven't seen the show since the introduction of the rest of the family.. but you are right. Kaki is an elder and needs to give her age a consideration. Showing brute force against the elder just makes you a brute!
OOh I have uncovered an interesting angle without even watching the show.. Maybe the writers too will think of it!!

What make a man rape a 98 year old woman?? I can't even fathom that...
Oh I absolutely hate the use of "balatkaar" by people for jokes or even to talk about misuse of things. It's like a plague that is rotting people!

The same rotten and demented psyche that rapes a 7 year old. I do not think there ever will be an answer to this. May Allah keep people safe from both the psyche and consequences of it.
