Hehehehehe. More .gifs will come up. Jenny is totally kickass. It's awesome.
This show really has a strong female lead, and then another recurring female who is also strong. And both are women of color, black to be exact. And the show has more minority representation that so many other shows.
The leads are actually co-leads in every way. You can perhaps make the argument that so far it's been more about Abbie, but you can also make the other argument that it's also about Ichabod. I mean...it's about BOTH of them.
And the way the dynamic and relationship is portrayed. Abbie is strong, but real. She is developed. A black female lead character. And while she is strong, she's also emotional and is real and has her human moments too. Shows always tend to make the black female characters all caricatures and not well rounded. Hell she's more well rounded than many white female leads too.
And Ichabod, man you gotta love him. He gives RESPECT to Abbie. The man totally admires her and respects her. You can see it developing by the end of the first episode (where also she starts trusting him too and believing in him), but when you really see it is in the second episode where responds to the police scanner right after she tells him about her background with Corbin. You see that subtle way he takes it in and sort of respects and admires and understands--that she's pushed down all of her emotional feelings, where she was on the verge of crying, and she responds to that call...
And you know how many shows DO not show the man standing back, letting the woman handle it? He lets her do her thing, but goes to her and accompanies her when he needs to do it. I mean...
Just...I love this show, man. I feel proud that for us we were looking forward to it from before it aired...
