What an irony!!! All the players in #SpotFixing are from a team whose captain is the most respected gentlemen of world cricket..

so true feeling bad for Dravid.

Hmmm...ganguly is probably saying that he feels proud to have played with honest players...no one can point a finger at any of them...they all have high integrity!
Not sure what it has to do with the current spotfixing uproar...but maybe he is trying to answer to those who are saying that this has been happening for long and all big players have done it blah blah blah. He is saying...look..we never did anything ok! 😃

even I feel it should be made legal but with what I have read making it legal will be a loss for the money making parties.

This is an extract from NDTV article...

Spot-fixing is betting on the result of a certain ball or over, or the performance of an individual player, rather than the result of a match. It may or may not affect the eventual outcome of the match but does impact the scorecard. The bookies are not worried about the outcome of the match; they fix ball by ball and it is a lucrative business.

"We can fix where and when no-balls and wides will be bowled. It is lucrative for bookies as they know when no-balls will be bowled and they can place bets accordingly, a bookie told NDTV on the condition of anonymity.
But this is not something new to cricket and is prevalent in many parts of the world. "Spot-fixing is rampant in countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and West Indies," the bookie we spoke to said.

Betting on sports is illegal in India but is allegedly big business in the IPL and is run by underground syndicates in Mumbai and other parts of the country. Sources say over 5000 crores are riding on bets placed on IPL each year. Bookies often operate out of vehicles now to avoid detection.

@red: I know this discussion is long over... but this is exactly why it should be made legal. These are run by underground thugs who don't pay taxes and are interested in taking all the money for themselves... The country is actually losing because of this...
On other hand, if this is made legal (tough laws needed), then atleast there is a safenet of some sort for the vulnerable and plus it contributes to the economy as well...
In Sreesanth's case, doesn't matter if he is just lower down the pecking order in this, what he allegedly did is still illegal.

Just wanted share this.. Beckham to retire!

People can love him or hate him, but he is one heck of a player & I have always admired the passion this guy has for the game. Together with Victoria, he has raised his sons well!

Wednesday CC episode appreciation...(coz I have to!)

Liked the scene in CC's house at the dining table where CC is worried about Manav becoz his mother is sick and their relationship is in a limbo, whereas her family is talking excitedly about her marriage/sasural. For the first time in the show, I was able to get some feeling from SI's character...something that made her look a bit genuine/relatable to me...felt her worry & sadness. SI is good in portraying pathos.
Liked the bit of comedy of Umaben's bahus where the younger 2 come up with desparate ideas to show that they are as good as the elder bahu in order to impress their sasuma. "Hated" the comment by Umaben to the matchmaker lady that the girl she is looking for Manav should not be padhi likhi. I can't stand such regressive characterizations and am assuming the makers want me to strongly dislike Umaben for saying it.
Another scene that was decent was Manav's friend trying to convince him not to give up on CC for his mother's sake. Then coming up with the idea of making Umaben like CC so that Manav can fulfill her wish of marrying the girl of HER choice...and then meeting with Simple to get the plan underway...was all interesting from story perspective.
