January 10, 2013, (Sawfnews.com) - Salman Khan, who has been forced to tone down his workouts because of a nerve disorder, is now confronted with a burgeoning waistline, evident at times in his recent release Dabangg 2.
To make matters worse, Salman next plays an army officer in his brother Sohail Khan's film, tentatively titled Radhe.
Before embarking on the shooting of the film, the soldier has a battle he must win - the battle of the bulge!
Overweight he may be, but Salman soldiers well. He has gone off carbs completely to shed weight and regain his famed chiseled look.
Salman, who recently turned 47, has been talking about the extra effort required to stay in shape with progressing age.
A source close to the star, who looks after his diet, tells the Mumbai Mirror:
"His major concern was his spreading mid-riff. The paunch was visible, and despite the biceps and the broad shoulders, the belly was to be tamed."
The actor has been on fruit and veggies for the past 12 weeks. No more home cooked biryanis, parathas for him, says the source. He is making up for his protein intake with protein shakes.
"When you cut down on carbs you need to increase your protein intake. Though he has cut down on his meat intake, he is making it up with protein shakes,"
It was earlier reported that Salman has quit smoking for health reasons. Now that he is also on a healthier diet, Salman is sure to enthrall his fans in 2013.
