Hi Sari, Life's good. AD is hectic very tied in project due in for 2 months. Manger is doing 4Lions on the team(meaning not leading the team correct and blaming us for the faults and discrediting the team). I am busy doing a Sobti on the team (trying to take a break, jump ship or quit without wording so). Funny how reel life is imitating real life for me. Rest all is fine.

excellent discussion on.. today morning, i was watching episode 43 and 44 and I was amazed.. the thing is i have never really watched these episodes in chronological order... the way Payal, Buaji and Shyam especially Shyam's character has been delineated in these episodes is marvellous. This is right after Teej before the storeroom incident on the Sunday morning.. There is this beautifully structured, layered scene where Arnav comes down for breakfast and is told that Shyam is preparing breakfast for all.. He stands outside the kitchen and lovingly, with the rarest of rare tiny smile observes his family laughing, teasing and enjoying each other's company. The outsider and the provider.. the camera screams.

And the way Shyam weaves magic with his words.. using the right sentences to appeal to Arnav's logic about his handling of Lavanya issue and then using emotions and respect in convincing Nani to let Lavanya stay in RM... i felt like clapping. It struck me that perhaps after ASR, during this golden phase of IPK, more than Khushi's even , it was Shyam's character that was beautifully written...he was never meant to be a full-out evil character as he finally became...he was always meant to be grey...and was meant to have strong motives for what he was doing...and they let all this go to waste.

I for one always wanted a backstory for Shyam-Anjali love story and that could have been the best side-track ever.

Like you all have discussed here,..where did these things go? What an ill-fated story that the makers itself couldn't see and preserve such brilliance..where things were said without saying.. where show not tell was the mantra.
