I said that, I THOUGHT it might be regressive and all before I started watching. But if anything, it is actually PROGRESSIVE with the way it opens your mind and makes you think about so many aspects at once. Not just on a story/character level but also on a broader society/cultural level. There is SO much scope for thought here, which I do realize and appreciate.
The show is actually progressive in the way that they are showing strong women..not abla naari's like you said. Even this deeyarvattu situation was progressive more than regressive. Regressive would've been if Gulaal HAD married Dushyant. Or if she had just sat there weeping at her situation for years. But she took a stand. And the whole deeyarvattu situation I find was such an eye opening and innovative way to solve this problem. No one would've thought Gulaal would do this. But yes, I am finding the show very refreshing...mostly I like how the cultural/rural setting is kept true to it's essence. You know what I mean? I get this authentic feel. The music and everything. It's so soul touchingly beautiful.Ok off to watch as many more scenes as I can before dinner.
