Ekta ..does it matter what airline it is ? I think Airport security authority (like TSA) will have final say on what is allowed and what is not, right ? For all airlines, everyone has to go thru same security check so I believe she will come to know only at Security check. I guess airlines can only make sure that trip dimensions don't exceed whateevr specifications they have for cabin luggage.

If its expesive, I think best bet is to take it as check-in luggage. I know its painful when you dont have any other check-baggage and then you have wait for it once you get to your destination.

Even I thought the same and called up airport officials. They told me to check with the airlines.

@Arjun… Airlines matters, yes…bcoz there are restrictions on the number of carry-on items. So tripod is an extra item, and she might have to forego a regular carry-on bag if there are number restrictions.

@Sneha… I checked a couple of quick photography blogs. And people have travelled in Jetstar with full-fledged photography gear, provided everything fits in ur carry-on bag. Just check the number of carry-on bags allowed, and based on that u might have to tuck ur tripod in one of the bags, or u can carry it separately. If I were u, I'll tuck everything into the same bag, to avoid the hassle of carrying an extra bag 😃
