True. They do offer some good and heated discussions, though. 😃😃
The only opposing views we'll encounter while reading HP is probably that of Mohit ji's and Pinki. 😳😆😆
I think it'll be put to voting. I think RW ji recommended a book too, that we have not read yet. Let's see. Mohit ji has already promised to read the 4th book from HP after Kezia ji's exams. So I am guessing in May, sometime. April is usually the examination month.
I did no such thing, Aladin ji. 😃
We are following the list that we have on the first page of the CC. We'd discussed this for long enough already, and until the next list is being drawn, we are not picking any HP book. Not for the discussion threads, atleast.
As it stands: Pinku doesn't want to read HP, RW says that she won't read it again, and Smita ji wasn't too eager either. We will talk about the inclusion of new books when our first list is exhausted, but until then, there cannot be any HP.
Aladin ji, please don't hold this against me. (We've been friends for rather long now, and you know how much I admire you; but we can't break group discipline even for extraordinary friendship. Can we?) I am sure that you recognize how clear our (the entire reading group's) intentions are. And I am sure you also see how it is hard enough to keep this reading group afloat; what with everyone wanting to read different things; and there being little consensus and already little discipline about it.
Besides, children's literature is usually rich with imagery and nuances that instill creativity. How much can we discuss such books? They are meant to be read and enjoyed; and we can all do that, irrespective of an online reading group. I see the summary of the PJ series, and there is so-o-o little about the book in there... We started as a reading group, and we have to try to uphold our character...
ADMINISTRATIVE DIVERSION
A. Lets us hear which book from the selection on the first page is your choice for the next discussion. For now and for the future, we have to agree on the the principle of the reading list. The next book will be chosen from there. We will not be picking and abandoning books on everybody else based on personal whims. Respect for the reading list amounts to respect for the people who made the suggestions that made it. So, let us vote for the next book...
B. The titles for the reader awards have still not been proposed by anybody. I think, we should not have an excessive number of awards anyway... For this round, I suggest we institute the following:
* The best reader
* The best do-gooder
Further suggestions are welcome, but we should not exceed more than 3 awards, for the simple reason that we aren't so many people, and because the awards were only supposed to be an incentive for people to read the books. Since readership remains largely unaffected, we can dispense with the need to have more feel-good awards. (This would also be lesser work for RW!)
