Hey Loli,
I watched the 18th part of the Dailymotion vid just now. I think I got the gist of it. Basically, a messenger of King Jarasandh comes to the court of King Ugrasen and offers a peace treat in the form of Asti and Prapti, right? And King Ugrasen accepts (though he looks worried for some reason) and the people of Mathura talk about how fortunate Kans is.Yea you got it... lol if you would've waited I'm in the process of subtitling the unsubtitled vids for you (parts 18-31) as a Christmas/b-day present... would you like that, even though you seem perfectly fine without? might make it a tad more fun...
To further explain the vid, let me backtrack to the prev scene, in which Kans's evil friend Banasur is talking to Jarasandh about fixing his girls up with Kans - when he first says "how about Ugrasen's son?", Jarasandh is like "ewwww, that righteous wuss? I have bigger, badder kings in my dungeon whom I use as human sacrifices! I don't want his son as son-in-law, he's probably just as soft" Banasur proceeds to convince him that Kans is just as over-ambitious, cold-blooded, and strong as him, and in fact he captured the great wrestler Chanur who even Jarasandh couldn't defeat - the only thing holding him back from spreading the reign of terror that they mutually dream of is his father... and Jarasandh goes, well if he's so powerful, how can that old man be enough to stop him? Banasur explains that it's not him, but his loyal army - Kans can't face them without military assistance from the outside, which is why he is proposing this marriage in the first place. If it goes through, then three of them together (Kans, Jarasandh, and Banasur) can build empires of oppression all over the country. This sells Jarasandh on the idea, and they have an evil laugh fest - muahahahaha đ
The he tells Jarasandh to send a cunning minister who can present the proposal in a way that makes it sound both harmless and coercive, so Ugrasen can't refuse. The minister sticks to coercive rather than harmless; he relates the proposal and goes right into wedding arrangements nonstop - so Ugrasen's like "well, I appreciate the idea of friendship you propose, but don't you think you should hold it for a sec to hear my reply before you talk about the ceremony?" And the messenger's like "dude, I'm talking about the all-powerful emperor Jarasandh - only a fool would reject his offer" - that is what gets Ugrasen ticked off, he thinks the guard's extremely disrespectful and sends him to his room while they decide on a response. The "good guy" ministers agree that this sounds more like a threat than a treaty, but one of Kans's evil friends steps in and says "why are we arguing over what his intentions are? all we need to consider is this: Jarasandh is mad powerful, so his friendship is more desirable than his enmity. Rejecting his offer invites his enmity. Therefore, we have no choice but to accept! And so they do, and everyone in Mathura is excited to have such a powerful new ally... and about the upcoming festivities in general.
I really love how these two Banasur scenes are written, because for one RS uses the most proper language to have him say the most improper things, which in itself is ironic; and the irony of the a matchmaker having to emphasize a potential suitor's most despicable traits to convince the dad of his worthiness - so much sarcasm, it's really brilliant! But why were some of King Ugrasen's ministers as well as himself not look happy about the upcoming marriages?
It's the messenger's high-handed tone, which he and the other good guys interpret as threatening rather than friendly and occasion-appropriate. Should've never second guessed themselves!By the way, I rewatched the past two parts and again loved the reason Vasudev gives the dude (sorry, don't remember his name Akrur đ) Ugrasen (Actually Vasu and Kunti's dad, Shursen) sends about why he doesn't want to go into hiding. How if it's destined that he should die, then he'd die anyway, but since the prophesy says that his and Devaki's 8th child will kill Kans, then that means he wouldn't die. Love that part in the Gokul Shree Krishna epis! Yeps, these fate and destiny dialogues in the beginning are brilliant, soooo well-written and quotable - thats why I wanna discuss the one between the Rishis in the next vid! you wanna brave it without, or should I put it up with my subtitles Friday? But the Dailymotion quality is terrible!𤢠Do you know any other site which has clearer vids?
Well ppl have it as torrents, but I have no idea how to download those... you know like the subtitled magadheera link you gave... if you do, I'll send some links... but instead of daily itself if you use the links you put on the front pg, it's the same ones but abt 100px smaller, so it's somewhat clearer... best I can do is add in those subtitles for yađł
