Here's my reply:
Alright, I'm giong to pitch in and give my two cents for the DOTW. I'm going to go on a rant here, so please bare with me.
In a nutshell, the treachery of the psychics/astrologers is that, they are heartless, psychopathic scammers. They prey on the lonely or vulnerable or those poor souls that are undergoing some sort of crisis.
First of all, I don't know about the rest, but for me personally, I'm too much of a skeptic, and I don't think my future can be determined by the lines on my hand, cards, and other tools. I don't believe anyone can tell you what's going to happen, that's something only God knows, and that's something only you can shape through your actions (freewill).
You ultimately have the power over your life. You can't expect to sit on your phone day after day making calls to psychics or astrologers, expecting someone to finally hit pay dirt, as your opportunities will pass you by, and rightfully so.
As Zainu said, we are too blame for this mess, because we created it. But I also understand why people do call psychics. When one is vulnerable, one tends to look for re-assurance for the future and some of these so-called psychics take advantage of this. They're all bullshit con artists.
These people are just 'vultures' who fly down to pick your bones when you are at your most vulnerable. I think it is absolutely normal when you loose someone, or experience a crisis, to be shaken up by the world. Depression sends us out on a search to uncover meaning in this universe. Maybe that is why loss is a part of life, because it forces us to become deeper people. I know a lot of people who think it is crazy to call a psychic, but I understand it too. I think most people who do are trying to find meaningful answers.
I think such people are truly sadists. When we as humans are in serious states of depression, we are not in our rational minds. These so called psychics/astrologers squeeze every penny out of you, since you don't have the capacity to think or determine what's right or what's wrong. Most of these people are incredibly facile at deceit and mendacity, and all the psychological ploys used to gain trust, and maintain loyalty. They play with people's emotions, hopes, and dreams, charging them outrageous fees for nonsense and lies is one of the most disgusting things I have seen a human do to another human being.
As I said, most people fall prey to these scam artists in their most vulnerable state, but there's also many, who even in the most contained state, continue to engage with psychics/astrologers, for consultation etc. Why would anyone want to know about the future anyway? Life is a journey and a maze. Why would anyone want someone telling you how to live it? You can't seriously tell me that if one of these psyhics told you that you would marry a man with blue eyes and blonde hair, that you would ever date someone who doesn't look like that. I find that sometimes, it's best to be surprised by events you do not know about than disappointed by events that do not happen.
We're stupid to assume that they're mind-readers and are omniscient like God. It just doesn't work that way.
Besides, if one's gift is from GOD then why do you charge money for it? Last Time I check Jesus did not charge people to follow him. And I don't believe GOD charged you to have them. And if they're so 'accurate' and 'all knowing', then shouldn't they be somewhere locating missing children, or using their 'gifts' for the greater of mankind. Lol, why don't they just get a real job? Like a part time McDonald Fry Cooker and do psychic reading as a side job. LOL!!
I say all this, because there has been many people around me who believe in this crap, and who continously engage in it. I've seen them waste thousands of dollars, only to add to their emotional anguish.
Also, I've had very little experience with these crooks (thank God), but I have had an experience that was somewhat shocking. Now, I'm too much of a skeptic to believe this, and it may have been a fluke. Heck, it may have even been real, but I'd rather stay away from this crap.
Last year, there was someone in my family, who was actually like a father to me, who suffered a stroke. He was in the hospital, and no one had any idea if he would pull through or not. I worked with a girl who claimed to be a psychic (Lord, she was so weird) and told me that she would look into the matter for me (I didn't ask her to). Anyways, I had spent all night praying, and I fell asleep for an hour or so. I woke up 5 in the morning, to recieve a text message from her that read: 'I'm Sorry'... I thought 'huh?" ... a few minutes later, I recieved a call from my family and they informed me that he had just passed away. 😲
