"Iss janam mein main tumhari nahin ho saki, par main vaada karti hoon, agle har janam mein main sirf tumhari rahungi" she spoke with sincerity in her eyes.
"Main agle har janam mein tumhara intezaar karunga" I replied.
-
"Yeh kya faltu script likhi hai yaar!" she yelled.
"Agla janam, pichla janam? What is all this?" I scream with an equally irritated tone.
The room filled with irritated sighs and a bunch of angry eyes staring right at me and Taani. Yes. Never in my life did I think that I would end up rehearsing some lame lines with my ex-girlfriend Taani Shekawat.
"Come on bhai! Aap mere liye itna bhi nahin kar sakte!" Neha Singhania, the biggest Bollywood fanatic knew how to emotionally blackmail her elder brother aka me.
Just when I was about to say something, Taani opened her big fat mouth.
"Neha, main tumhare bhai ke saath koi bhi kaam nahin karna chahti. Please kissi aur ko dhoond lena." She passed a deadly glare in my direction before storming out of the rehearsal hall.
"Oh god. Taani chali gayi, ab kya honga?!" said Neha anxiously. Her eyes stared directly towards me. I knew what was coming next.
"Bhai, aap Taani ko iss play karne ke liye manaonge warna main aap se kabhi baat nahin karungi!" she shouted before stomping out of the room. Why are girls so annoying, demanding and so urghhh...the list of words to describe them are endless!
I strolled through the corridors keeping my eye out for Taani. It's not easy talking to a girl whom you were once madly in love with. Correction. The girl who you still are madly in love with. Our break up story is even longer than our love story. So many fights, misunderstandings, disagreements, impulsiveness etc etc. I hate to admit that our break up was mainly my fault. But one thing is true that she changed Reyansh Singhania for the better. The sad part is that I realised that after our breakup. Forcing her to get back with me would be unfair. She deserves to move on happily in her life, as much as it would hurt me.
After walking through the college corridors for a good five minutes, I noticed Taani sitting in the fire exit. Yep. She stole my thinking spot. Taking in a deep breath, I pushed open the doors of the fire exit. The creaking sound of the door did not seem to affect her. I stood by her side and realised that she was in deep thought and seemed pretty upset. After realising my presence, she quickly jolted up.
"All okay?" I asked trying not to sound awkward.
There was no reply. Instead, she wrapped her arms around my neck and smacked her lips on mine. Yeah, you read right. SHE smacked her lips on mine! Being Reyansh Singhania, it did not take me long to respond as much shock I was in. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pushed her slightly, making her lean on the wall behind her. We kissed passionately and finally broke the kiss after a very long moment."Taani kya hua? Is everything okay?" I asked worriedly. She kissed me-of course I had to be worried!
"Teen mahine ho gaye humare break up ko hue, tum ne ek baar bhi mujhe mana na zaroori nahin samjha?" she accused.
Me being shocked at that point would be an understatement.
"I..I thought you hate me" I stuttered.
"Of course I hate you!" she retorted. "Tumhe kya lagta hai? Main tumhare bina khush hoon?"
I couldn't help but smile broadly at her confession.
"Ab hass kyun rahe ho?" she asked in her childish tone.
I wrapped my arms around her back and hugged her tightly. She too responded to the hug.
"I'm sorry Taani. Main kitna bada ghada than na jab hum relationship mein the" I admitted.
"Yes" she agreed. "Lekin hum dono equally stupid hai that's why we are perfect for each other" she spoke while cuddling more tightly. I smiled at her childishness and gave her a peck on her head.
Suddenly, my phone started ringing disturbing our moment. Thanks a lot Neha' I thought sarcastically while staring at her name on my screen. I picked up the phone and as expected, she was asking if I had convinced Taani. I reassured her telling her that Taani had agreed and cut the call.
"Chalo. Get ready Neha ke 'agla janam, pichla janam' script ke liye" I said.
Taani laughed whole heartedly but then smacked me on my arm. "Leave my best friend alone!" she warned.
"Whatever. You girls are really impossible. Waise mujhe rehearsal hall mein itna attitude kyun de rahi thi?" I asked as we were making our way out of the fire exit.
"Tumhari girlfriend hoon, attitude dena toh banta hai" she winked.
