He kept looking at the Operation Theatre (OT), worried and tensed. He was not sure how he felt. Doctors had asked him to calm down and convinced him many a times that everything was to be fine. But how could he be calm when across the hall, behind the door was none other than Sharon, his Sharon.
"I should have been careful. aaj tum iss tarah..sab meri galati hai..Sharon, I love you, pls be okay." Every minute felt like an hour, as much as he tried to keep his thoughts calm, he kept getting pulled back into the turmoil. "Never again Sharon..never again, but God meri Sharon ko kuch na ho..."
He felt alone too. None his friends or family were there. it was his decision to move to a new country with Sharon. Tired of her mom's constant rant on how he could not provide for Sharon. It was then, to prove her mother wrong that he decided to take up lucrative job offer he had in Jamaica. Away from his friend, family and his dance institute. He promised himself to make good money and only then return to India. His plan was to stay back in Jamaica only for 2 yrs, the extension by an year was Sharon's plan. She wanted to stay back for couple of more months, Swayam never understood why but he agreed. "tumhari baat nahi maani chahiye thi, we should have gone back Sharon..toh aaj yeh.."
Sharon, love of his life, since the first day he saw her. Her smile, that's what he liked the most about her. Or wait was it her eyes. He could not put finger on what it was but she was his oxygen. Wooing Sharon was the easy part of their relationship, it was only when they decided to take their relationship to next level and get married, when the hell broke loose. Sharon's mom was against their relationship. Swayam's love for simple things in life irked her. She wanted the best and finest for her dauhgter which Swayam was quite incapable of providing then. After a lot of coaxing and drama finely her mom gave in to their marriage, but never whole heartedly. She made it a point to remind Swayam that her daughter had to "downgrade" her lifestyle because of him. It would not have affected him much until one day he saw Sharon crying while on call with her mom. She was in tears trying to defend him but clearly not much useful.
Sharon surely did not deserve this, this is not what he wanted togive her in life. It was that moment that Swayam said yes to the job opportunity and pack their bags. Life is Jamaica was fun, Their perfect little world and perfect little life...until this morning.
As Swayam waited in the hospital, he kept having flashback of how he had almost lost Sharon, when they were in college. brushing those thoughts aside, he kept looking at the OT light and his watch alternately. Four hours since she has been inside, his restlessness grew with every passing second. World ceased to exist for him, all his energy, focus and thoughts were about Sharon. He could care less if there was going to be WW III.
"Mr. She-ka-what, you can come inside now", nurse stepped out from the OT.
He ran into the room, to find Sharon lying on the bed, smiling weakly at him. She looked weak and drowsy. Swayam was almost about to hug her when the nurse came in between. "She taking rest. No hug kiss, only talk", the senior nursed said. Swayam squeezed Sharon's hand and kissed her hands. Sharon could not speak, she kept looking at him lovingly. "I am so sorry Sharon. I should have known better...", murmured Swayam. Sharon tried to pull her hand out from Swayam's hand, weakly. Swayam raises his head slowly to find a lone tear escape from Sharon's eyes. She slowly lift her hands and points toward the other side of the bed and whispers "Shaurya..."
Swayam walks there to find a beautiful baby sleeping peacefully in the incubator. The nurse comes near Swayam and tells "Congrats..Baby Boy" and pats his back. He looks at her as to asking her permission to hold the baby."No no young man.. baby premature..in incubator 3 days..no hold baby now". Swayam looks the baby for another minute or two before walking back to Sharon and kissing her on forward. "Thank You Sharon..." his voice trails off.
They enjoy their moment until a low feeble crying voice jerks them back to reality. "Swayam, i am tired, you go and check on him" in her diva tone. "Pleasure is all mine, sweetheart" Swayam goes to the incubator to check on Shaurya."Arey yeh toh so gaya firse... pakka tumpe gaya hai, pal mein chilna fir shant ho jana.", he laughs while Sharon makes faces. Looking back at baby, Swayam excitedly announces, " Actually nahi, apne dadda pe gaya hai. Neend mein bhi his toes are pointed." Both of them share a light moment, while Shaurya continues to sleep.. with his toes pointed.
