She woke up in the middle of the night and traced her hand on the bed and sighed. He wasn't here again. Every night, she woke up and found him not in their room. She got out of the bed, straightening her nighty. This was becoming a daily routine for her.
Yawning, she went towards his study. The path to his study was almost embedded in her mind. She woke up everyday, every night and went towards that room. When she reached the room, he called study, she could see him sitting on his desk, the light of the laptop illuminating his face in the poorly lit room, typing away things which she was never able to understand.
She stood in the doorway, admiring her husband. She loved his expressions when he was confused and frustrated. His nose twitched as he noticed something on the screen and adjusted his glasses. She loved it, but it was becoming more common now. And waking up every night with your husband not beside you is not very pleasing. He removed his glasses and rubbed his face to make the sleep go away.
"Rey..." Her voice travelled across the room and reached his ears. He looked up immediately and smiled at her pouty face.
"Kriya... You're up?" He said concerned. "This is not good for you." He repeated the same line, which he does everytime.
She walked towards him and behind his chair, wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him on the cheek. "Nor is it for you." She said in her angelic voice and nuzzled in his neck. He placed his hands on hers and turned to kiss her forehead.
She smiled and looked at him, they were lost in each other's eyes, it was shocking that after seven years of their marriage, nothing had changed their feelings, ever. He leaned in and she closed her eyes. He pecked her lips, adding one more kiss to the collection of thousand others.
She opened her eyes, smiling at get husband and said "I'll make some coffee for you..." She untangled her arms from his neck, whereas he returned back to work.
Kriya went to the kitchen and started to brew the coffee, thinking about her life.
Seven years, numerous happiness, few sadness, but their love for each other only got stronger, never once did anything come in between them. She was three months pregnant, and the way Rey took care of her was ample. But since the last few weeks, he was busy with his workload, he had this huge responsibility of the Singhania Industries on his shoulders and she understood it. But seeing Rey work like a maniac at night and go to office early disturbed her, deeply.
The coffee was about to boil when she came to her senses and switched off the stove, poured the coffee into a cup and started towards the staircase.
When she reached his study, he was again working in bewilderment. She sighed and walked towards him, placing the cup on his desk, beside the laptop. He muttered a thank you while she just settled on the couch, looking at her husband.
She looked at him as he worked and observed that his eyes were almost close to get shut, but every time that happened, he would shake his head and get back to work. She sighed and left her seat, walking towards him.
She shut the laptop, leaving him startled and pulled him by his arm. "Come on, you need to sleep." She said. He got up from his seat, continuously resisting.
They were halfway out of the door, when Rey pulled his hand back and Kriya turned and dashed into him because of the force. Her hands were resting on his chiseled chest and his hand were resting on her petite waist.
They looked into the depths of each other's eyes. Drowning in them. His eyes which had sleep in them a while ago were filled with mischievousness. Her eyes were full of love. Just like every time. They were holding each other like love struck teenagers.
"So, Mrs. Singhania. We are so close. What's the plan." He whispered in her ears in that husky voice.
Kriya smiled at him and he smiled back. How she loved that smile. His hands trailed from her waist to her stomach. He felt the baby bump and bent down, kissing her stomach. She giggled and her hands were lost in the jungle of his night hair. They were messy yet he looked cute.
When he came up to her level, he just removed the hair from her shoulder and dipped his head in the crook of her neck. She closed her eyes and dug her nails into his well built biceps. He left a trail of kisses on her neck then pulled back, and saw her eyes closed, breath hitched.
"It's okay, it's just me. Not our first time." Her eyes fluttered open as soon as the words left his mouth. Of course this wasn't the first time they did all this mushy romance but every time they did she had the same reaction she did when they had their first time. That's how much he affected her even after so many years.
He smirked at her and leaned down to capture her lips when...
"Mumma, daddy?" A little girl called out from the door, wearing pajamas and holding a pink teddy in her hand, rubbing her eyes.
Rey looked at the door, sighed and moved back. Kriya smiled at the girl and walked towards her five year old daughter. "Reya what's wrong?" She asked holding her hands to stop her from rubbing her eyes.
"Can I sleep with you? I went to your room but you weren't there. So I thought someone kidnapped you." She said in a sad and scared voice. Kriya got worried and Rey also approached Kriya and sat beside her, kneeling to their daughter's level.
"Who told anything like that will happen?" Rey said and laughed on the silliness of the little girl.
Kriya took her to their room and they lied down on their bed. Reya was sleeping in between if the both of them and was fast asleep. As soon as she slept Kriya whispered to Rey.
"Did you scare her about the kidnapping thing?" She said a little angry.
"She needs to be aware... You know" he said trying to justify himself.
"Shut up, if you ever talk to her about things like these. I'll kill you." She said in a harsh voice.
"Sorry na..." He trailed but...
Riya opened her left eye, and looked at her mommy who was red with anger and her father, who was looking at her feared. She did not think of whatever he was trying to justify to her mom and circled her arms around their neck and pulled them down in an instant.
When her parents realized what had happened. They looked at the Reya who was pretending to be asleep and just laughed at her actions.
End.
This did not turn out the way I expected. But still, happy with whatever it is.
