13 NEW FACES MAKE A SPLASH ON TV
In a bid to add freshness to their content and grab more eyeballs,prime time showmakers are increasingly opting for newbie actors in leading roles

With 13 new faces amping up the glam factor in telly soaps,prime time shows are looking more interesting.While bigger and more established/popular faces continue to call the shots on entertainment television,producers are experimenting with new faces to infuse freshness in their shows.Producer Vipul D Shah of Chanchan,who had screen tested a slew of top male TV stars before settling for a newbie actor,says,We had initially planned for both leads to be debutants so as to have a refreshing approach.Going for a popular and already established actor takes away the novelty factor.After we cast Sanaya in the lead,we wanted a newcomer to play the hero so that we had a freshness in the screen chemistry.This is a risk we had to take.
For newcomers,a debut on a TV show is a great professional breakthrough.Vipul adds,Debutants are also hungry to do good work and want to prove themselves.They completely surrender to you as they are absolutely raw which makes it easier to work with them.The audience is receptive to talented new faces And TV as a medium has always been open about launching new faces.
Actor Vrushika Mehta who stepped in as a replacement for the lead protagonists role in Dil Dosti Dance,a month ago,seconds the thought and says,Showbiz encourages new talent.Even fans are really encouraging as they motivate you to do better. The other advantage of course is the fact that debutants dont have the burden of a screen image and can step in as any character in a more convincing manner over an established star who has the baggage of a starry image.Producer Sudhir Sharma of Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha Season 2 says,New actors can create their own brand fit in sync with the character they essay.A popular face does not always become a convincing fit as a character in a show.That is the plus point with new faces that you can put them into new skin and the audience can relate to their characters.
Given the number of actors who are debuting on the small screen,TV viewers have a lot of new faces to watch out for.
