Ok, agreed I am a self proclaimed Swayam/Shantanu addict, and he will continue getting my single-tracked attention in every episode, till the end of the show...but that does not mean I don't find the rest of the gang special.
Which is why, the news of Shakti's exit is affecting me more than I thought it would! When I was reading your posts yesterday about her quitting, half of me was thinking "Must be some kinda gimmick, how can she just LEAVE?" And the other half was like "Cra[b], what if it's true? nooo!"
I had a lot of things to do yesterday at work, and its not like I could not concentrate...but somewhere in my mind, the Shakti-leaving-fear remained.
And then today, I read some posts saying people are planning to quit watching this show. Which got me thinking...would I have done the same had Shantanu left D3? Granted, I would be very upset...dismal actually! But is D3 only about one character? One couple?
I am being completely honest with you guys, yes I'll be really really sad if Swayam's character is suddenly replaced. But by now, every character in D3 is quite important to me. Each character has a considerable impression on my evenings...little things about them make me relate to them...to the extent that I feel I am actually friends with them, virtually hi sahi!
I mean I have grown up with friends like Macedon, Simi, Vicky and Vishakha; AND I once had a roommate in college as dramatic as Neha. In the show, I absolutely love Vinti's attitude, the way she dresses up, talks, and dances. I love Kunwar for the sweetheart that he is, besides being totally smokin' hawwwt! Love Sneha for the complicated person she is...and definitely her prowess in Ballroom Dancing - she just rocks Tango and Jazz. Love Macedon's screen presence, his raps are only a bonus fun, he is so much more than that. Absolutely love Vicky's goofiness, and his chemistry with EVERYONE. ViHa are just outlandishly cute...they give filmy romance a whole new "planet"!!! Love Amar and Bharat's spirit of solid support for their friends. And not to mention, Simi and Rini's puns...is it just me, or do you guys find Rini's "confusion" freakishly cute? Lol
Shantanu - I don't even need to mention...that can become a separate post altogether! Looove him!
But coming back to Shakti... Let me not state the obvious, we all know she's a tremendous dancer. To replace her as a dancer would be quite a herculean task for the creatives to begin with. As an actress, she definitely had that charisma, that genuinity, which convinced us that on D3 she is not Shakti anymore, only Kriya. The innocence and twinkle with which she has played the character, makes us easily forget how matured and somber Shakti really is. But chalo, let us be fair and say, they might find a better actress than her. Fine. But where will they find the same chemistry that she shares [won't put a past tense] with Kunwar? That will be the toughest... for them, and for us.
All this made me think maybe I will not follow D3 as ardently as I used to. Probabely will catch the Swayam scenes later, on Youtube. Because, I am not a SwaRon or KriyaAnsh fan...perhaps a ReYam fan.
But then, come to reason, it's not just about Shakti or Kunwar or Shantanu right? It's about D3 as a gang. D3...the show - that in its own little way keeps us young - I mean those of us who have finished college, and are working like me, or those who are even married. To me, this show is my source of innocent fun...of colour.
Definitely, this sudden approaching end to ArSha, and a forced beginning of another name is rather disturbing.
But to me, D3 as a whole is also as important as...well, Swayam [in my context].
So I'll give this show the chance and loyalty it deserves for making me laugh and connect for these 9-10 months. I have no clue if they'll at all find a replacement as good as Shakti. And to me, there will always be one Kriyaa - Shakti Mohan. Yes, D3 won't be the same, and I'd really hope she returns. And I'll always HOPE and WISH ArSha becomes a real-life couple if not reel anymore.
But talking about D3...I'll watch it for the rest of the gang...their hard-work, their passion. C'mon people, they deserve it. It's plain unfair to weigh down everyone's efforts over one single exit - be it Shakti, be it Shantanu, or whoever.
What can I say, D3'ian foreva!!!
