old and tired Chandragupta Maurya gave away all his material possessions and taking the life of a Jain saint. His favorite grandson, prince Asoka, claimed his grandfather's sword. ChandraGupta Maurya explained that the sword is in fact a demon that, whenever unsheathed, craves blood without regard to friend or foe. He threw away the sword but the young prince Asoka reclaimed and unsheathed it whereupon it accidentally slashed his dear birds on a tree. At one point, Emperor Asoka mentions that he "want to be a greater emperor than Chandra Gupta Maurya". But later Emperor Asoka threw the sword at the same spot his grandfather, Chandragupta Maurya, had thrown it and then embraced Buddhism. Emperor Asoka understands that his grandfather's advice about the sword was right.

As far as i remember... the same scene was also shown in the movie Ashoka... But i thought it was a fictious one as in that movie CGM was looking very old... with all his hair gone white... but as I know... he was around 42 when he died... That's why didn't find it true...

But now as u have written it...then may be It's true!!!!!😉
