I am saving all my lamenting for the lack of hamam scenes only (which from the precap will probably leave me wanting no more as this is not the hamam-walas i envisioned). Roopa is here to stay until the CVs see fit to end this track. I am more interested in the finding out the answers to the many questions that today's episode has raised rather than the swift end of this track.

For example, why does Roopa hate Nandini so? If this is going to be the classic India twin problem where one is angry and hate the other for having the wonderful life he/she was denied; then it is so lame to me. I am extremely curious, how the story has been written now. For there is a slim chance they will make it a clever one, though I cannot now think of any possible twist that would make this one; or they will do the usual nonsensical stories that don't add up or is nothing but dumb. However, as I said I am very curious how this is to unfold. So no fast forwards or missing episodes for me.

Another unanswered question, which Aapama had asked too, I think...how did Roopa get the same face (down to the mole under the nose) as Nandini? I stand by (you can thwack me as much as you want now!😉) my theory that she is the love child of Nand. Though this time i think it must be of some Daasi that he ditched at the drop of a hat once the deed is done; perhaps during his pre-Samrat days. Because then it would make sense why Roopa's very being is seared with the mentioning of Nandini. For if they had the same father and a world of difference in life, Roopa would hate her. And Nand would have all the reason to fear Sunanda exposing his fall from grace in the eyes of Nandini.

Roopa's accent sounds very much like Bhojpuri which my husband speaks. As Patliputra is the modern day Patna, it makes sense she speaks that accent.

I am not sure about Roopa romancing Chandra though. Because she (from the precap) is clearly all about making Chandra hating Nandini - though why would Sunanda want this? Wouldn't it be easier to get rid of Chandra if she makes him fall for her head over heels? Like Delilah? However, it is possible that she is going to use Dadi or any other reason as an excuse to be 'intimate' with him as today's episode, which suits me just fine. For one reason mainly - after the horrendous way he had behaved with Nandini, especially the part where he had the gall to ask her 'how many are there' he deserved to receive some pain too. 😡 The way he looked when she just jumped on him was hilarious. Oh, he would love the attention from her despite all his venom isn't it? And darling Roopa will get him spinning like a top in confusion with loving attention one moment and Malay's mantra another. You deserve this you donkey!

I would like to see his greenhorn's attempt at flirting too! He has no chance against Roopa. But more than this, i would love to see Malay becoming putty in her hands and for it to be smacked in his face that it was never Nandini, but a mere nobody. A further slap to his already bruised ego.

And the poor real Nandini - stuck in all of this. I do wish she will get back some of her spunk. Love can be crippling I admit, but she does not have be so helpless. In fact, i think this track might serve the purpose to re-introduce the warrior princess to the warrior princess herself. Just like you said, Chandra is not going to believe Nandini unless something extreme, in this case, her saving him from the evil Roopa in the nick of time is going to happen. And while doing it, perhaps she might regain back some of her lost spunk?

Until Sunanda is exposed, I dont think Avantika will be the first choice of womanly advisor to Nandini. For each time without fail she has told Nandini to accept that her PittaMaharaj is a man full of fault, while omitting important but self incriminating details such as the murder of Shishunaag, to back up her reasoning. So no, Sunanda will have to do for now. I do wish that they will show more of Moora. She is far a better choice for Nandini to pour out her pain and concern. But god forbid she goes to Dadi ma. Oh that insufferable being. Her so attempted cute granny with her ' oh i am always coming in at the wrong time'... it was OTT to me.

I do look forward to today's episode. Why? Because unlike Nandini who has become the dutiful target board of Chandra's insults and jeers, Roopa is all about making him loony. She has no fear or qualms about making true what he has been accusing Nandini off. however, in all their face off (apart from that one fatal 'yes i love Malay') Nandini has always been shown and hurt and broken, and not fighting him. This ROopa, I expect will give him a good fight. Not a shouting match, I hope. But a sultry ' yes, i love Malay and so what is it to you?' and end it with a sexy smile and sashay away.

oh what fun to behold!

CHANDRA NANDINI 76: TANGLED SKEINS

My dear Sri, Shailaja, Anu, Krithika, loveislife, and the others who will undoubtedly soon join in the lamentations about tonight's episode 76,
I do not share your excessive despair, which I feel is a premature and kneejerk reaction. And I watched the episode the way I watch every episode of any serial for as long as I follow it, from end to end, to make sure there are no interesting segments or lines that I have missed. I did not expect anything much more, and I was not disappointed.

See, we knew there was going to be a doubles track, twins or a look alike. So how can it be any different, in the broad outlines, from what they showed? The dialect that Roopa speaks is the rustic lingo, rather like what is spoken in rural Bihar today. She is a wild, uncontrollable creature, and that comes thru well.

One sees that Sunanda has been using her till now for other purposes of her own, and they have been paid for it. This was most likely a question of Roopa impersonating Nandini with others who did not know the original well, and extracting money from them under whatever pretext. Now Roopa, who clearly hates Nandini with a white hot hatred, is ready to do this latest job for free as it matches with what she wants as well. So far so good.

But as she says herself, she is going to need extra coaching about how to impersonate Nandini in her day to day activities. Probably from Sunanda.

The scene where she hugs Chandra was impromptu, but soon she will want him as well, and given her generally rough and ready techniques, her wooing of Chandra should be side-splitting. I was in stitches looking at his face when Roopa suddenly fell on his neck!😆

And his first ever, tentative ventures into sensuality with the girl he takes to be Nandini should be equally amusing. How can one declare, as if one was around in this era, and that the historical Chandragupta Maurya would never have flirted with his wife or wives in the bath? He was human, after all!😉 I have no problem with Rajat trying this kind of stuff out for a change.

A potential clash between Roopa and Aapama already looms on the horizon. Roopa wants to become Nandini in Chandra's life. Aapama, however, wants Nandini - both the Nandinis, actually - out of Chandra's life for good. It is not yet clear what Sunanda wants and why. It is a nice tangle.

The real Nandini is nothing like as tough as it takes to confront all these chudails, and then she goes to Sunanda of all people for advice, instead of going to her mother.

So I am not going to watch anything in FF mode, or drop out till this track is over. But this lightweight stuff might let me skip a weekly post or two. Let me see.

I am delighted that all of you enjoyed this post so much.Sri, I am more relieved than anything else by that, as I am never sure how any post of mine turns out in the end!

One last point. Sony has begun telecasting Peshwa Bajirao from tonight at 0730 pm daily. They have a promising cast, with Manish Wadhwa as Bajirao's father Balaji Vishwanath, and Pallavi Joshi as Tara Bai Saheb, Shivaji Maharaj's redoubtable daughter in law. Tonight's one hour episode was very good. I plan to watch it regularly, and I would recommend it to all of you.

Aunty, after reading this post of yours I watched the episode, and I must say I am not much depressed after watching it, rather I can see a slight ray of hope, like a new moon night. I think that's because I think when Roopa has entered into the scenario and started action, she will not take much time to be caught.😛 Chandra has noticed the difference in nails between both, so we can expect him to act smart at least for once and redeem himself by catching the lookalike.😆 At least we are going to have something other than Chandra's meaningless shout and accusation on Nandini like an idiot.😡 I am hoping for the clash between Roopa and Aapama as u have pointed out, but I don't want Roopu to fall for Chandu. The poor chap will die now seeing the long line of deewanis behind him.😆

I watched Peshwa Bajirao yesterday. It was too good!😃 going to catch it up regularly.😳⭐️

Anne,

@bold:

I don't think it is a possibility..Reason:
Nandini was born after he murdered Sishunag and married Avantika. If Roopa was the result of his pre-samrat days, she must be quite old, even older than Chandra.
And BTW, how many of Avantika's sons were illegitimate, i.e., born to Nand, when she was still married to Sishunag?

And what does Aapama gain out of this? I doubt if Helena even knows about this duplicate Nandini and the Sunanda- Roopa- Aapama conspiracy.
If Roopa has come to replace Nandini and settle with Chandra, why does she work so hard to drive a wedge between Chandra and Nandini by moving closer to Malay and kindle his jealousy.? Or if Sunanda's aim is to eliminate Chandra, who will be the successor to Chandra ?
And what would be Nand's stand ? Even if he attacks Magad , kills Chandra and becomes king once again, who will be his successor? All his sons but one have already been killed and remaining one is not mentally sound. At least his beloved daughter is the Queen of the Magad Samrat Chandra now.

Does Nand know that Malay had entered Magad to marry Chayya ? Is it also his plan? So that Malay can make use of his closeness to Chandra to get rid of him ?

What is the status of Malay in Chandra's kingdom, other than being a palace-jawai?
Does he have any other duty or responsibility?

About the latest episode:
Why didn't Chandra suspect about "Nandini"'s long nails? Didn't he notice that Nandini didn't have such long nails when she was lying by his side on that night and during the pooja when they were making the Lingam?
Again, this Roopa leaves the room after smoking heavily and enters Chandra's chamber. She hugs Chandra tightly for a few minutes.. Couldn't he smell tobacco on her? 😕

Saraswathi Aunty.

Well, my dear Sarika, I am allergic to what are called TV social dramas. They are invariable junk, and with very, very few exceptions, I never watch them

So I prefer historicals and some mythologicals, like DKD Mahadev, for I love refreshing my memories of the puranas, and the Sanskrit slokas. Mostly, the historicals too pall after a while unless there is some actor who holds me, like Rajat or Mohit Raina or Manish Wadhwa. But while they are good, they are far better than socials.

As for Peshwa Bajirao, I live in Pune, which was the seat of the Peshwas. So it holds a special interest for me. The opening episode was excellent.

I am glad you liked the main post so much, my dear Sarika, and that you agree with me on this mini one as well.

The point you have made is crucial, and it is the same as what I told Shailaja and Joyee, that Roopa will be the catalyst that brings Chandra and Nandini together eventually.

And it is utterly necessary to understand that Monday''s episode was reserved for revelation of Roopa in full terms. I totally agree with you regarding your mini post on yesterday's episode. There should be something that bring these two Individuals to confess their desire to each other whether it is Nand from Nandini's side or some other strong reason from Chandra's side and CV's has ended up with this look alike Roopa, who brought up in a wild manner, with which obviously capable of warming up the screen with sequence of hugs or hamaams and alas! we have one in Tuesday episode as the precap.

Shailaja dear ,

I generally detest Akdha and the other fond terms coined here for lead pairs, but here too, Chandra Nandini seems to be better placed. Chandini is lovely, and now your witty Choopa is perfect too!👏

Well, as it matters very little whether one likes one part of what passes for a script here or not, why waste time lamenting over what cannot be helped? I do not know what a Chandramukhi track would involve, but my dear, they showed Roopa in that secret room from the beginning, so where could the hypnosis idea have been fitted in?

As for me, I can see many fun things ahead, and I have touched on them in my mini-post on last night's episode (page 4), and I am preparing to enjoy myself as Roopa leads Chandra 2 a proper dance. He deserves that after that ugly Kitne the?, for which he should have, by rights, had his teeth knocked down his throat!😡

See, he is so besotted with Nandini that when Roopa says, straight off the bat, that she loves him oh so much, the poor sap is clearly all chuffed up. It is of a piece with what he tells Nandini on Friday night:

Tumhare sthan par koyi aur hota, avashya yeh kehta "Phir bhi main tumse bahut prem karti hoon...Kya kahein, aur main aankh moond kar us par vishwas kar leta!"

I had forgotten to insert a lovely quotation, about just such a bitter, helpless lover unable to get over a faithless beloved. that perfectly illustrates Chandra's state of mind here, so I am putting it down here.

Were my love to swear that she was made of truth,
I would believe her though I knew she lied.

Is it not beautiful? It made my heart ache the first time I read it. Do you k now where? Not in an anthology of poetry, but in one of Dorothy Sayers' Peter Wimsey mysteries, Clouds of Witness.

Shyamala Aunty
