My dear Debastuti,

I am glad you enjoyed this post so much. I too enjoyed your comments, which are all to the point. But somehow this Nandini irritates me. Maybe it is her nearly non-existent nose!😉 I am sure the adult Nandini will be much better, and in any case, by the end of the Monday episode, the grown up, at least 18 year old Chandragupta will also be there. Not the grown up Nandini, seeing the age difference of 8 years between them, Let us see.

I loved this review so much Aunty!! 🤗 You're awesome. 😳

I liked the episode quite a lot too, unlike the bogus starting episode and the following two... Besides giving us a clearer view on little Chandra's character and Nandni's innocent love and dependence to her father, the episode introduces 3 important characters- Amatya Rakkshas, Alexander and the most awaited one-Chanakya...
Amartya Rakhshas looks like a rakhshas literally! 🤣 🤣 I was first full confused after seeing his one glance. Who was the bald old peculiar man with peculiar expressions accompanying him? 😆 His first meeting with Chandra is fascinating where Chandra successfully catches his admiration.
The choice of Alexander is very much apt for the role I feel. But I agree with you to-to about the Hindi dialogues in English pronunciation. It sounds funny and irritating at times as well. When they are providing subtitles why can't they go for Greek co-locals (if Greek is tough for Hindi TV show, they can try English...at least sounds better than Hinglish 😆 )
I never watched CAS so no chance of getting disappointed with the choice of Chanakya with the experience of CAS; In DKDM he was quite good, but what I felt then that he is very soft and affectionate one, too much to be a persona like Chanakya (May be for I was constantly comparing him with the Chanakya of 2012's ChandraGupta Maurya who was the most apt fit for the role I think). But after watching his entry I hope I will like him afterwards with the story development... Chanakya's entry was neat and perfect, waiting for his confrontation with Nand and the famous oath and the most awaited meeting with Chandragupta. I loved the significance of the last scene just like you, and your review made the feelings more saturated. 😳

Chandra's never-bending, determined nature, regal attitude, majestic authority along with a blend of measured arrogance in it is very much clearer in this particular episode. Chandra's hatred towards love seemed a bit forceful to me at 3rd episode, but here I can feel the insecurity towards love that he feels... Any boy of his age must feel the same devastated and angry in this kind of family structure where father beats mother and him for not giving money to drink and mother continuously tries to compromise with all the domestic violence and torture in a conventional belief of love and lecturing her son to do the same. These incidences will remain a like a scar in his whole life making him apathetic to love itself, and his mother will be the only responsible for this. 😡

Nandni is just as cute, adorable and innocent as any girl of her age. She is too small to see the evil side of her father; in her age it is impossible for her to believe that her father can be an evil man, just like any girl, and her love, dependency and bond with her father is very much real and realistic... Nandni is ignorant of the dirty world in which she is born; for her all the evilness are captured inside the demons and monsters of fairy-tales, she cannot place his father in the place of those monsters as like every daughter her father is the superhero for her too... The contrast between the childhood of Chandra and Nandni is very intriguing. One has to struggle with reality in every moment, another is unknown to the word struggle itself...

The story has pace and it is taking form very swiftly. Waiting for today's episode eagerly and also for your review on that of-coarse. 😃

As for the Chanakya shapath, it was there in full force last night, and even more ferocious than the traditional version. For he does a Draupadi, and swears that he will not tie his hair till it has been spattered with the blood of Padmanand. I will cover that in my next post, due out probably Sunday morning.

It really pleasing to see that you reply to each members post here and give your own views on that Aunty
But it must be really painful for you and your fingers to type so many words
I have a take on today's episode in this thread and it's not in detail and well described like you do but I want you to see that and if possible give your views on that
I think one must learn something positive from anything and since you are more experienced than me then your views are also will give something new to learn (it's my take on life)

He is not jogging arthritically but sneaking to page 3. And it is not his ears but his hands that he holds so, to be as sneaky as possible.😔

Adwitiya my dear,

I am delighted to see this, for you are the first to have specially relished the funny parts in this post - especially my personal favourite, the one about the dentist's chair.😉 Are you a fan of The Lord of the Rings? Then the Gollum crack would have amused you no end, for that is a perfect fit. That chap turned out to be Shaktar, actually Padmanand's Mahaamatya, but here said to be his Finance Minister.

To revert, that has generally been one of the sad parts of my existence in the IF, that while so many say they loved my analyses, very few seem to notice and relish the jokes! At one point, I seriously thought of labelling them in caps: JOKE AHEAD! ATTENTION REQUESTED!😆

Mura is an infliction on the eye and the ear alike. Those close ups of her and Nand in the same frame would suffice to drive most viewers away. I suppose that now she will settle down to being the archetypical MAA beloved of our films and TV, and we shall have to suffer her to the bitter end.😡

As for "distinguished members", I agree with you about the two that you have named, though Kashish (Couch_Potato) bluntly disowned any prior knowledge of me and my Ramayanas till she was called firmly to order,😉 and I never ran into Shailaja in my Jodha Akbar days. She is a find of mine from the CAS forum. But my Lashykanna is, as of now, a notable absconder in terms of serious comment. I am just cutting her some slack for the present, in the hope of behavioral improvement. 😉

Aunty dearest!

Your analysis and anecdotes had me in stitches!😆 I definitely watched the episode, don't know what is going to happen tonight, but so far this was one of the most eventful episodes with most of its happening setting the stage for further incidents, and two pivotal characters stepping in.

I do agree with the Mura part, her encounter with Nandni - was a surprise indeed, though I felt that it was nearly time for the saas-bahu to meet😉. Jokes apart, it's strange to note that Avantika and Mura, two ladies tested by Fate, robbed of their fortunes on the very same night reflect on their losses so differently. More because of the actresses I guess, while the demanding and cursing Avantika is still bearable, Mura makes me feel like stuffing a handful of tissues into her mouth 😡

Poor Chandoo, both the mothers are completely useless!! I understand that his foster mother is in too much love to see how her husband is manhandling her, she can at least put her feet down for her beloved Chandra - if she is failing even there - it doesn't show her as either a good wife even a good mother!

As always Aunty, your threads assemble some of the very distinguished members of the forum - I have noticed that in Jodha Akbar days, during the Jalandhar track of Devon ke Dev Mahadev and here is no exception - a special mention of Couch_Potato and Shailaja, their perceptive posts and refined language is certainly a treat!

As for Chanakya, I have not seen him in CAS, unlike most people here, saw him as Dadhichi in DKDM last and there he did a commendable job, so I am looking forward to see more of him, though Manish Wadha remains a favourite, I can definitely expect some good acting 😊

I was quite surprised and somewhat amused to note the exceptional Urdu skills of the Macedonian superhero, your take on him and Mahamatya Rakshas and co. certainly deserves a 👏👏👏 in the least!

That said, take care of yourself as you limp along - do notice that I have hit the like, and thanks for your pm...
See you soon!

Aunty! I always loved your jokes & have always laughed at them!

(On a totally unrelated note though, do I make your distinguished members list?)

Just joshing. 😆 I do love tor humour. Except the LOTR bits fly by my head. I am staunchly a HP girl. And LOTR bored me to tears & put me to sleep so I am not help there.

My poppet,

It was not MY distinguished persons list, it was Adwitiya's. As for me, I do not go about listing distinguished persons - having had to deal with enough of them in my 38 years of official life! - but only those I am very, very fond of, my girls, with the stress on the my.

In that list, you little wretch, I had kept you as a fixture, thru all the years when you forgot me totally!

I am ready to accept your statement that you have always laughed at my jokes - though you mostly forgot to tell me so - magar jab aap hi nahin thin, so zaahir hai ki aapki hansi bhi nahin thi! I have missed you a lot, and that is the truth, for there are very few as delightfully wacky as you were and are.

If LOTR put you to sleep, that says more about you that about the work. I loved it and I love it still. It is not your fault, but that of your generation. Your attention span is so short, and you actually like the pedestrian writing style of a JK Rowling better than the wonderful prose of a Tolkien. Kya karein!

Bu why sneak around at all? I dare say he has rubber soles as well. I begin to think there is something shady about this little creature. 😉

Regardless of that, he is too cute for words!

I am glad you liked this one too, my dear Sutapa. I will try and post the next one tomorrow. Then, come Monday, 90% of this forum will be so busy drooling all over Rajat's Chandragupta that I can easily take a break without its being notice at all!😉

Yes, of course you may, my dear Ratna, joining Sri (jayaks02) and a few others in choosing Akka.

I did not watch Bahubali because these days, my health problems are not conducive to sitting for 4 hours in a seat in a theatre. And I very rarely order pay per view movies on the Tatasky Showcase. The last one was Bajirao Mastani. But if you and my Lashykanna recommend it so strongly, I will watch it. But where would I get hold of it? And a film like that would be best seen on a 70mm screen, not on the 15.6" laptop monitor. But I will make it a point to watch the links you have given me.

You would have noticed, in the part about the woodland scene, that I had mentioned this handicap I was facing in my analysis of Chandra Nandini because of not having watched Bahubali. I would like to thank you for setting me right on the true origin of Nand's new look karagrih, and I hope you will continue to do this whenever such "inspirations" strike the CN writers in the future episodes.

I am very tired today, and so even my responses to the comments are moving very slowly. I think I will call it a day soon and lie down for a while. I have not even thought of the post No.5 - I will try and put it out tomorrow, though there was not much in it to analyse.

See you again soon, my dear girl.

Warm regards.

Shyamala Akka.

Always loved your reviews shyamala akka (may I call you that?)

I'm usually a silent reader but couldn't help posting about a confusion that you had in today's analysis, this one:

Why this sudden shift from an appropriately gloomy underground dungeon to a wide open space, with a raised chabootara in the centre, with a pillar to which she is chained? Then it hit me: it is a replication of Sita in the Ashoka vatika, with Nand's visitations replicating the equally fruitless ones of Ravana.

Rani mura is tied in this fashion because this was exactly how rani devasena was chained by the villain bhallaladeva in bahubali!

No the cvs were not intelligently referring to Ramayana but merely copying what they had seen in bahubali (I had made a post on this last day...these cvs😡.)sadly I guess they'll continue copying /lifting off scenes from the epic movie.

P.S. just out of curiosity, why didn't you watch bahubali? I think you would've liked it.or did you get some negative reviews?

Waiting for your next analysis. ..

Love,

Ratna.
