Chandra Nandni, a historical saga, which narrates the tale of Chandragupta and warrior princess Nandni is all set to air tonight on Star Plus. Here are five reasons why you should not give Ekta Kapoor's ambitious show a skip: (Gursimran Kaur Banga)

Untold love story of Chandragupta Maurya: The show delves into the love life of Chandragupta Maurya, a subject that has not been dealt before. While many know Chandragupta as a mighty warrior, his romantic relationships haven't been spoken about. And that is exactly what the show explores.

Shweta Basu's return to the small screen: Even though her personal life has been a subject of constant scrutiny, there is no denial that Shweta is a powerhouse of talent. This show marks Shweta's comeback on television after she featured in 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii'.

Going by the trailer, she fits the role of Chandragupta's wife perfectly. And Rajat Tokas as Chandragupta Maurya: Rajat Tokas returns to TV as Chandragupta, and the audience loves to see him play the role of a historical figure. If you consider the success of his shows such as Prithviraj Chauhan and Jodha Akbar, then you'd know there is no one better than him to do justice to the role.

Talking about casting Costume and setting: When it comes to showcasing opulence, there is no one who does it better than Ekta Kapoor. Right from the costume to the setting, one can expect grand locations and beautifully decked men and women. Also, this is Ekta's most ambitious show, hence, one can expect it to be exceptional in terms of extravagance.

Love-hate relationship: This forms the premise of almost all the hit shows Ekta has produced including Ye Hai Mohabbatein, Kumkum Bhagya, Brahmarakshas etc. Nandni's character is that of a princess who stands up against a colossal power like Chandragupta to seek justice for the wrong done to her and her family. Fate make makes them partners for life, when nothing exists between them except hatred which unites them in this high-octane drama.
