Actor Manoj Joshi, who plays 'Chanakya' in 'Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat', has quit the show. While it seems like his track has been ended abruptly, Manoj says, "The character was not going to be there forever on the show. The track has ended." The actor, who has played 'Chanakya' on stage a number of times over the last 24 years, says, "For me the biggest appreciation is when people come up to me and say that while they have never seen 'Chanakya', I have justified the character."
Incidentally, Manoj says he misses those days of television when episodes were shot well in advance. "TV is a great medium but it has a long way to go. So long as the system is dependent on ratings, scripts will keep changing till the last minute. I miss the earlier shows which were finite. Nowadays, scenes are narrated to actors when they are getting ready, and things may change the very next day. I don't understand how we all work like this but the fact is that we've all managed to adjust to this pattern."
