The scene shifts to palace and Dharma is praying but Sushim comes and douses the flame to the holy fire with water. He tells her that Ashoke is dead and Akramark confirms saying that he fell from the mountain. Dharma does not believe and Sushim says get ready for the last rites of my Brother. Charumitra smiles at Sushim. Ahankara comes and watches both she and Dharma cry and Dharma reassures Ahankara that nothing must have happened to Ashoke he won't leave me alone.
Sushim lits the pyre of Ashoke and feels happy and laughs along with Kalkatak they see Ashoke comes and Radhagupta tells the crying Dharma that Ashoke has come back they come to meet him but both Kalkatak and Sushim are angry. They pretend that nothing is happening and Ashoke is creating tales. Sushim says what he means and Kalkatak says I feel Ashoke has pretended that he is kidnapped himself and for money he has done this spoiling the name of his father and they pretend that all are blaming Ashoke and his mother for all this drama .Sushim supports Mahamatya Kalkatak and as Ashoke protests Sushim says he believes Mahamatya Kalkatak and Asoke vows to bring the truth of Mahamatya in front of all. Sushim conspires and plans with Kalkatak and plans to send out Ashoke Dharma out of the palace to hide their cruelty and corruption perpetuated in the name of Bindusar.
Dharma tells Ashoke not to do anything and he is too young and small and others will stop him from bring out the truth no one will co operate.When he goes to find out the truth no one corporate with him and Sushim comes and hits the person and tells the man to show him everything but they cant find 1st then a false sign is shown which has been taken of Ashoke hands when he was imprisoned. Sushim blames Ashoke Ashoke tries to prove he is innocent and says all will blame my father but Sushim does not listen says he is not my brother nor a Maurya and he takes away all powers of Ashoke saying he is not a royal person but has indulged in telling lies and created agitations and making people raise in revolt against his rule and make people disbelieve him and Sushim blames and hits Ashoke and takes away his powers of being a Prince from him for making false charges against his officials and Kalkatak and makes false papers on Ashoke's crimes and tells he will show them to his father when he comes and smiles at the corrupt officials and goes. Ashoke and Radhgupt are stunned at the turn of events and Ashoke has a determined expression on his face.
