WHEN it's the denouement song of one of the most awaited films of the year, the composer must pull out all stops. That's what Bollywood's au courant top music duo has planned for the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, Farah Khan-produced Om Shanti Om.
Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani, better known by their first names, are off to Prague to record the climax track for the film with a 150-piece orchestra.
"Many Hindi films have used an orchestra in bits and pieces as background score. But we've retained a philharmonic orchestra," says Vishal. The ambitious composition will have instruments ranging from violins, rock drums and around 150 musicians.
"There won't be any electronic sound at all. After the recording in Prague, the song will be re-recorded here with a solo singer," says Shekhar. Shaan is tipped to be that singer.
All the seven tracks of Farah's film have been scored by the pair who has given chartbusters like Allah Ke Bande in recent times. "We worked in association with Pyarebhai (Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma of the famous Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo) for one song. It was hugely enriching," adds Vishal.
With many of Tinseltown's big production houses signing them on, things cannot get better. From two Yash Raj Films' projects, Vijay Krishna Acharya's and Siddharth Anand's, to Rohan Sippy and Sujoy Ghosh's Alladin, their characteristic urban sound will be all the rage.
They're also busy with Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007, where they are present as judges along with the likes of Ismail Darbar, Bappi Lahiri and Himesh Reshammiya.
