Reena Kapoor, who became a household name as Rani in Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki', will be now seen in a pivotal role in Zee TV's prime time drama, 'Aur... Pyaar Ho Gaya'. Sandeep M Hattangadi spoke to Reena about her return to television after a brief sabbatical.

What is your character on the show like?
My character Bhawna is etched very thoughtfully and many middle aged women of our country especially who have grown-up children will resonate with her feelings and sentiments. She is the kind of woman who turns a house into a home and keeps the family together while maintaining a bond between all the members. She shares a friend-like equation with her daughter who is just stepping into her youth. I play a mother who is a bridge between the old and new generations. And since I've never done a motherly role before, I was drawn to the project.

What made you take up this show?
The fact that this is a Rajan Shahi show being aired on ZEE TV made me take it up. Also, after Woh Rehnewali Mehlon Ki', I wanted an equally powerful role, and this character of mine is an important one.

What is it like working on the show?
It's a wonderful experience. Since most of the cast is new, it is easy to relate to them. I get along well with everyone from the production unit and the actors. We shot in the beautiful locales of Jaipur making it an ethereal experience.

What about films?
Nothing substantial has been offered to me yet, and if I get a role with substance I will definitely do it.

Are you open to reality shows?
Yes. Why not? I will take it up as a challenge but I should feel comfortable with the show.

Do you have any role models or inspirations?
I really adore Aamir Khan because he doesn't act but performs in every film and his dedication and talent is something I look up to.

What kind of shows do you like to watch?
I really don't watch much television because the shows nowadays are not like the early 80s and 90s. I don't find today's shows really interesting but I do watch popular sit-coms like Friends' sometimes. Catch Reena Kapoor in action from Monday to Friday at 10pm.
