I just feel I am so imperfect that there's a lot to do to get myself up to be close to just what's right. So anything about me physically is a far cry from what I want it to be.

What do you dislike about yourself as a person?
I am improving right now so there's nothing really I would want to point a finger at myself for.

Like?
The fact that I genuinely mean good for people in my heart and mind. There's not one person on this planet that I know, whom I can say I mean harm for. And that makes me feel very special.

My earlier relationships definitely worked for me. They were a source of strength and inspiration for me. I would not have reached this level had it not been for Milind and Dino. They have supported me at each and every step. I don't feel that marriage is the end point of every relationship.

You were only 17 when you came to Mumbai. How much did the men in your life contribute to your career?

I was only 17 when I decided to pack my bags and come to Mumbai far from my family to make my career. I used to live in one single room. But, I have no regrets. I got amazing friends here in Mumbai, two of them being Dino and Milind. They were there with me when I was nobody and are with me when I am somebody!

Are you sure you'll marry Mr Abraham?

I'd like to marry John. But I don't know where we'll go five years from now. Every relationship has teething problems. Today we've been together for two-and- and-a-half years. We no longer question each other when we're linked elsewhere. We just smile and say, "One more".

Are rumours healthy sometimes?

All these rumours definitely come from our own profession. Sometimes they're created to generate excitement in a forthcoming film. As marketing strategy such rumours are truly appaling. You can't use the people who work for you. Initially, when I was a model my parents were ruffled by such gossip about their daughter. Now like everyone else they read and forget.

Are you happy with John's career?

Very, very happy. I feel totally elated by his success. Not just because he's my boyfriend but because he's a very hardworking, intense and good actor.

You said you wouldn't sign any more films with boyfriend John Abraham. Why?

I don't want to ruin our on-screen image by doing each and every film that comes our way. After Jism, Aetbaar and Madhoshi I think we need to wait for a fabulous script to work with.

Do rumours affect the sensitive relationship that you hold with John?

People have come with crazy stories like we have spilt and I have caught him red handed with other women. John has a dual personality. John can be a ladies' man when he wants to and also a man's man. It doesn't bother me at all when I read all those rubbish stories. John and I are the only two people who know what's going on between us, and we choose not to share it with the world.

Do your parents approve of John?

Initially, my parents were a little fussy about my relationship. They would have definitely not approved of me marrying a Christian or a Muslim. But they have approved John. Today I am not answerable to anybody but them.

When do you think will be the right time to marry?

Sometimes, even if you are in love and committed, it might not be just the right thing to get married and declare this way to the world that we are in love. I know that I'll quit acting when I get married. Marriage is a commitment I'd like to give myself totally.

What if John cheats on you?

I think John loves me as much as I love him. Our relationship is based on trust and I know John very well. No one can come in the way of our relationship.

Which has been the most exciting gift from your man?

It's obviously 'Poshto,' my cute little doggy!

What is the secret behind you going on the sets of John's shoot on the very first day?

There is no real secret actually. It just happens that I'm a bit superstitious and feel lucky to be on the sets of all his films.

What is more important — your man or your career?

I am a very content person. I am not overly ambitious. Being with my family, friends and my boyfriend makes me happy.

John and you have appeared in television commercials together. Is that intentional?

John is in demand today and he has the liberty to choose the female cast, but he does not do that. We both have strong personas and after doing the Clinic All Clear Ad , one thing is clear that is people love to see us together.

Is John a nagging boyfriend?

John is a little hyper in our relationship. In no way does he nag me though — I won't let him nag me at all!

MUMBAI: For months on now, all rumour-mongers seemed to talk about was how poster boy John Abraham and Bollywood siren Bipasha Basu were having serious problems in their relationship.

On Saturday, Bipasha broke her silence to clarify that everything was fine between the duo.

"We are absolutely fine and together. I am tired of rumours like these before the release of a film, "Bipasha said."We have not split. We love each other too much to part.

We have our share of problems like everyone else but we are deeply into each other. Our bond is too strong." The actress also specified that this was the last time she was going to talk about her personal life.

But sceptics insist that being together did not mean that all was well between the glamorous duo.

According to the industry grapevine, it all started with John's climb up the ladder of superstardom. "He had less and less time for Bipasha,"said an industry insider.

What added fuel to the rumour mill was the fact that Bipasha started signing on more films. She has recently signed two films with Abbas Mustan, one with Rituparno Ghosh and was reportedly negotiating two more deals.
