You don't go to Switzerland without Yash Chopra: SRK
Actor Shah Rukh Khan admits to an "emotional and mental" void in his life after father figure, late filmmaker Yash Chopra, passed away last week. So much so that the 46-year-old has cancelled the shoot of the last song of Chopra's film, Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ), in his favourite outdoor location Switzerland.

"We don't feel emotionally and mentally ready to go to Switzerland and shoot without Yash ji. You don't go to Switzerland without Yash Chopra," says the actor, who will now be a part of a grand farewell in ode to his guru with a lavish premiere of the film on November 12.

What happens now to the swan song in Switzerland that was due to be filmed for JTHJ?
We could not shoot for it as Yash ji was unwell. After he passed away, Karan (Johar) said, 'Should I shoot it?' But Adi (Aditya Chopra) said, 'No we are not going to shoot it.' If the song is not being shot by Mr Yash Chopra in Switzerland, then even I don't want to shoot it. None of us wants to. The song will now be played in the background. We'll use some scenes from what Yash ji's already shot.

What is the thought behind doing a gala premiere of the film?
Shah Rukh kisses father-figure Yash Chopra on his last birthday
Yash Chopra always released his films on Diwali (JTHJ releases on November 13), because his ideology was that it's a festival of life and happiness. Hope it's not seen in a wrong sense, but the fact that he'd been making films for the last 50 years, and just 10 days after he made his last film, he passes away ' I think in a strange sense is the happiest a filmmaker can be. We as people who've experienced him should celebrate what a wonderful and happy life he had. We shall carry forward the reason he made films for, and that was to celebrate life. We are going to have this huge premiere, Insha Allah, on the 12th (of November). To me it has become a little more than a film. That is the best way of giving a tribute or the best way to mourn for Yash Chopra's passing away and to celebrate the fact that he was a part of our lives.

'I was never a part of this game'

A newspaper in Pakistan has reported that Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) will be banned there and the promos have been pulled off air. Are you aware?
I never read the posts that come in newspapers anymore. I don't know about this. You'll have to ask the distributors.

Your Diwali release clashes with Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardar. Does that worry you?

I find this talk of competition within films and actors to be redundant. It's actually the sensibility of outsiders who don't know this business or who don't feel the film. I feel the film. My film is not mathematics. I don't believe in numbers. I know people think I'm a rich capitalist, a well-to do star. Ya, I'm a rockstar. But all that follows the belief that I'll only do a film which my heart tells me to. I don't need to know which other film is coming when my film is coming. With all humility and honesty, when my film comes, then only my film comes. I'm not being derogatory to anyone. But my film comes from the heart. If it's just about the business, then I hope everyone else's film does more business than mine.

Trade experts are predicting collections of over Rs. 200 crore for JTHJ. What are your expectations?
I'll tell you two things. I am not a trade pundit. I am not an astrologer. I am an actor and that's what makes me unpredictable. I hate numbers. It is so being tunnel visioned to be confined by numbers. I don't even understand why people celebrate birthdays. You're just getting older. It's really stupid to be confined by numbers.

JTHJ

Have you passed on the same outlook towards business of cinema to your kids?
I'll never be able to teach my son or daughter to be successful in the business of cinema. But they will know how to tell a story from the heart. My son has gone to study abroad. He looks a little educated now. I've been an outsider here. I was never a part of this game.

Have you began working on the sequel to RA.One?
Films like that take a little while. I am making three films already (Chennai Express, Happy New Year and A for Apple, B for Billi, C for Cutta). I need to take out some time, which I don't see happening. It's huge pre-production work to look into the VFX. It takes about a year. So not right now.

Is it true that you have postoponed Chennai Express to avoid a clash with Salman Khan's Brindavanam during Eid next year?
Again, utter crap and nonsense of newspapers, with all gentleness and kindness.

You are a very loyal ambassador when it comes to brands you endorse such as Tag Heuer that have become a part of your life through your trademark red glasses and watch. What keeps it going?
I have been fortunate to have had employers who have had an association with me with the mindset of continuing it for a lifetime. Tag Heuer and Hyundai are among those. It has been close to 10 years with Tag now and they have never forced me to promote it in my films. It's by default that I keep showing off pieces like this Tag Heuer Carrera India Racing Edition Chronograph that I am in Delhi to launch. When I need money, I work, otherwise I attend Tag functions (laughs).

Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif

About the song
The song, we hear, was supposed to be as intensely romantic as Mere Dil Mein Aaj Kya Hai from Yash Chopra's Daag, the first film that Sr Chopra directed for his home banner Yash Raj Films in 1973.

The song was to be shot in the snowfall capturing the same desperate romance between Shah Rukh and Katrina Kaif that Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore projected in Daag.

For the shoot of the last remaining song in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, director Yash Chopra had a grand vision: a sari-clad Katrina Kaif romancing Shah Rukh Khan in the lush meadows of the Swiss Alps. But unfortunately, his illness and then his sudden death stymied the plan for the song, which would have reflected his trademark directorial style.

It is now also believed that the film's stars Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma will work together to ensure that the film proves to be a fitting tribute to the Bollywood stalwart.

Shahrukh Khan to rock again in this Diwali

Mumbai: Bollywood badshah Shahrukh Khan to rock again in this Diwali through his film Jab Tak Hai Jaan. It was Yash Chopra's fourth film to feature Shahrukh Khan in the lead role, the former returning as a director after eight years post Veer-Zaara which released in 2004. Jab Tak Hai Jaan was Yash Chopra's last directorial venture before his death on October 21, 2012, just weeks before the release of the film.

Recently Yash Chopra's wife Pam Chopra has decided that a grand film premiere be held to celebrate the release of Yashji's JAB TAK HAI JAAN this Diwali.

"I want to give my husband an unforgettable farewell. Accordingly, we have decided to have a grand premiere for his ultimate film, JAB TAK HAI JAAN, exactly the way he wanted it. This is a fitting tribute to a man who would have had it no other way. I have asked my sons Aditya and Uday to go ahead with all the preparations. This premiere is our way of celebrating his illustrious life, rather than mourning it", said Pam Chopra.

The music and the background score for the film is composed by A.R. Rahman, who teamed up with Yash Chopra for the first time. The soundtrack features nine tracks with eight song lyrics penned by Gulzar and the title poem written by Aditya Chopra. The audio was released on YRF Music. It received positive reviews upon release.
Cast
Shahrukh Khan as Samar
Khan's role in the film will span two ages, one in his late twenties as a musician based in London and the other at an older age as an introverted, composed, dutiful army officer in Kashmir.[5]
Katrina Kaif as Meera
Prior to the film's release, Kaif's role was described as "the archetypal Yash Chopra seductress, an unattainable beauty."[6] She was reported to have put in a significant amount of work to make her character believable, and was helped by Khan, who had prior experience with the director.[7] Kaif faced difficulty at times while filming in London due to the cold weather.[8]
Anushka Sharma as Akira
Anushka Sharma was confirmed to be the second female lead in the film. In an interview with a leading daily journal, Anushka stated, "I play a girl by the name Akira. She is a 21 year old who wants to work for the Discovery Channel and make documentaries. She is extremely ambitious and would do anything to make it big and realize her dreams." It was initially rumored that Sharma would be seen in an extended cameo appearance but this was refuted by the actress in the interview.[9]
Anupam Kher as Meera's Father
Kaif's father in the film. He stated in an interview that his role in the film was a cameo appearance.[10]
Rishi Kapoor as Samar's Father
Khan's father in the film. The role is a cameo appearance.
Neetu Singh as Samar's Mother
Khan's mother in the film. The role is a cameo appearance.

Shahrukh Khan likes older women!

Mumbai: 'Shahrukh Khan', this name itself is more than enough to create hysteria amongst women all across the globe. Shahrukh is one of the very few actors, who is loved by females of all age groups. But guess what SRK loves?

Khan was recently in New Delhi to launch the limited edition of "India Racing Chronograph" watches. During a conversation with some media persons, Shahrukh got personal about his love for women. From Priyanka Chopra to Katrina Kaif, no wonder SRK has received several golden opportunities to romance younger females onscreen. When enquired about the same, Shahrukh Khan told a leading daily that he loves older women. "The young girls like me and I like older women. Hahhaaa see I have the best.. guys just joking," he told the daily.

The actor was away from his family during this Eid, courtesy his prior work commitments. However, he didn't forget to wish those present at the launch a "Happy Eid".

Shahrukh Khan facing priority issues!

New Delhi: For Shahrukh Khan, family has always been the priority but for sometimes now, he is unable to celebrate important occasions and festivals; simply, work has taken a toll over him now. He was seen endorsing a brand in the capital city, away from family. The same day he even tweeted about the day also marking his father's birthday.

Work commitments kept superstar Shah Rukh Khan away from celebrating Eid-Ul-Azha with his family.

The actor, who is the brand ambassador of luxury watchmaker Tag Heuer, flew down to the capital to launch the limited edition of "India Racing Chronograph" watches. However, he didn't forget to wish those present at the launch a "Happy Eid". "It's an honour to be associated with Tag Heuer. It's been a decade now that I have been associated with the brand. And every time I wear this I get the opportunity to be a little classic, elitist and cool," said Shah Rukh.

The actor seemed to have lost some weight as he looked quite lean in formal wear. At the launch he was accompanied by F1 racer Armaan Ibrahim as they together launched the limited edition watches. The two celebrities also had virtual car racing match together, in which Armaan beat the superstar.

The day was all the more special for Shah Rukh as it also happened to be his late father's birthday. The actor had tweeted earlier in the day Saturday, "In Delhi, realised it's my dad's b'day today. He would have been 88 yrs oldhmmm. Can't imagine him that old. Good I remember him as 50 years young."

The actor was earlier away from the hustle bustle of Eid-ul-fitr also, as he shot for the last leg of his new film Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Shah Rukh Khan to be copyrighted?

Actor Shah Rukh Khan wants his initials 'SRK' to be copyrighted. The 46-year-old recently applied for a trademark at the Delhi office of the Trade Mark Registry, according to reports.

It's yet to be known if the initials will be copyrighted. Earlier this year, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, too, had applied for his initials 'SRT' (Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar) to be copyrighted. Internationally, this has been a trend, with stars such as singer Jennifer Lopez and tennis player Roger Federer trademarking their names.

NIKHIL DWIVED and SHAH RUKH KHAN

THE LOWDOWN:

Nikhil made his debut with the E. Niwas dud, My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves. Success has eluded him so far despite credible performances in Shor In The City and Mani Ratnam's Raavan.

LOOKALIKE FACTOR:

Nikhil, who has been careful in his attempt to rehash everything from Shah Rukh Khan's hairdo to body language, is yet to get his first hit in Bollywood. He is also gifted with a pout and dimples that remind you of SRK.

While most superstars ignore their lookalikes, SRK was graceful enough to attend the premier of My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves.

"Today people know him as my lookalike, but soon he will be a prominent name in the industry and youngsters will emulate him," King Khan had said then about Nikhil.

CAREER PUSH:

Being dubbed as the poor man's SRK has its advantages. Nikhil never runs out of offers from low and medium-budget filmmakers.
