Television actors rarely get their due in Bollywood.Even if they do land up with a role in a movie,it either projects them as a side-kick or ends up being a blink-and-you-miss role.But Shilpa Anand,who shot to fame as Dr Riddhima of Dill Mill Gayye,has bagged a plum role in Sanjay Dutts next Alert 24-7,which also features Ruslaan Mumtaz and Raveena Tandon.She is playing an investigative journalist.This movie happened to her by chance as she was all set to do another movie under the same banner.She was the last minute replacement for the original actress.She says,I am an outgoing journalist who doesnt have any fears and can approach anyone with her questions.I will be seen opposite Ruslaan Mumtaz.The movie is a take on corruption in politics. Journalists are always criticised for intruding in celebrities private lives and ignoring ethics to get the news.So has her perception towards scribes changed Oh,its a tough job and I respect the fraternity, she says.It is also believed that TV artists dont get their due in movies.Ask her and she says,I think TV actors do a swell job given the atmosphere,long hours of shoot and on-the-spot dialogues.I owe my popularity to my TV show.People used to literally mob me while I was doing DMG.I cant forget this fact. Dill Mill Gayye is reportedly on cloud nine now that she has bagged a role in a Bollywood movie starring
Sanjay Dutt and
Raveena Tandon. The pretty actress, who plays an investigative journalist, bagged the role as the last minute replacement for the original actress who was supposed to play that role.
The movie titled
Alert 24-7 deals with the aspect of corruption in politics and Shilpa who owes this role to her popularity as a small screen actor is quoted to have said, "I play an outgoing journalist who is not afraid of anything and approaches anyone with her questions. I will be playing opposite
Ruslaan Mumtaz."
