Genelia had starred in the Telugu smash hit Bommarillu and eventually went on to don the greasepaint for its Tamil and Hindi remake. Now, the actress will once again be seen in Uthama Puthiran, which is the remake of the Telugu film Ready in which she had played the leading lady.

Genelia says that when she is offered the same roles in different languages, she feels honored because the filmmakers are choosing her for her acting skills. She adds that such opportunities also give her a chance to improve her performance.

At the audio launch of Uthama Puthiran, Dhanush said that music director Vijay Anthony initially composed two songs for the film and moved on to don the greasepaint for another film. This was major setback for UP, but Vijay ensured that he completed the scores during the nights while in the mornings he turned into a hero. Dhanush jocularly remarked that probably he is the only hero to haggle behind another hero to get the songs for his film.

The actor also made an open promise on stage that he would offer his call sheet to the producers of UP any time they seek but sought at least 3 months time to schedule his prior commitment
