How are you finding it so far? I hear the cast is all British? Or is the setting in UK?

I'm liking it so far! Other Emma Myers who plays Pip, I think the entire cast is British. I'm actually really glad it's set in the UK like the book originally was!

In the US edition yes - I'm not sure why but they changed certain things about the book to make it more "relatable" to American audiences, which is just so silly because there's still some UK slang in there and major plot points like the capstone project that (to my knowledge) don't exist in the US.

I like Book 2 a lot and I'm really glad I read the prequel before this so now I know who Jaime is. This is definitely a spoiler, but I wish they'd used the content from the prequel in the show instead of how they actually decided to introduce Pip deciding to solve the case.

I see. I had no idea there was a US version and UK version of the book.

I liked Book 2 fine and I didn’t find a gap from not having read the prequel… I mean I got that Connor was Pip’s friend and Jaime was his brother and that connection was enough for me. It didn’t feel weird or out of the blue to me. Does the prequel talk more about their relationship?

The prequel is really interesting because I didn't realize until starting Book 2 that they were probably using the prequel to establish the Reynolds family - Jaime as a character and his relationship with his family. He basically organizes this whole murder mystery party for Connor's birthday and the events of that plus the end of the prequel show you the exact moment Pip decides to solve the case for her capstone project.

Oh my! Now I'm stoked for this movie. Loved Emily in Lady Jane and Tom was soooo good in the latest Hunger Games movie! I'm very hopeful they can bring the chemistry between Alex and Poppy!

Finished the Good Girl's Guide To Murder tv series... don't bother with it, they lost me halfway through episode 3.

  • SIX EPISODES IS NOT ENOUGH
  • Pip and Ravi's first scene in the books was much better!
  • SPOILER: They made Nat da Silva one of Andie's friends, probably because it would cost less than hiring another actress. At first, I thought that this would add some complexity to that dynamic because of the story surrounding Andie, Nat and Nat's brother, but the show completely wasted that opportunity, didn't elaborate on any of the dynamics the way they should've, and got rid of every single reason that made Nat such a strong suspect in Pip's eyes. And on top of that, there was a random character (not in the books) who also played a similar role to Nat anyway... a total failure on both casting and writing departments, dear god.
  • Not a big spoiler, but there was this weird side plot with Pip's parents that was never in the books and it annoyed me so much.
  • Pip got the worst characterization, she doesn't feel like book!Pip at all, and some of Emma Myers' acting choices are just not working for this character. Pip made all these really impulsive, un-Pip-like decisions and they got rid of all these big moments that show you how intelligent and relentless and genuinely brave Pip is. The writers did not understand this character at all, which makes me wonder how involved Holly Jackson got to be in this project because I'd be so mad if someone did that to my lead heroine.

Oh I finished it. I fell asleep in Episode 2 but since I started i wanted to see it through. It was bad. A snooze fest. I could not warm up to any of the characters or actors. And the one angle I wouldn’t have minded if they’d done away with (Barney) they kept it in! Sucky adaptation.
