He's getting a documentary made on himself.

Documentaries aren't exactly common in Bollywood, but if you lack good ideas and want to make some quick money, it might just be your best bet.

There are quite a few wannabes in Bollywood who would easily fit the bill but the lucky one is Ashoke Bhatt.

It's a good thing that this guy is a producer as well as a director, or else we would have had some random amateur making a documentary on the life of a living legend!


Ashoke Bhatt has assisted Ismail Shroff in his early days, but is currently jobless. He was probably desperate for both, work and money and hence came up with the idea of making a documentary on Dilip Kumar.

He has done a lot of research on the legend's life and even managed to get an interview with him.

Even Dilip Saab was sitting idle at home and had nothing to do except for having tea and coffee made by his wife Saira Banu.

Both decided to meet and after having a long chat Ashoke got keener.

He is now going ahead with the idea of making a documentary on Dilip Saab's life and he had titled it as, 'Abhinay Samrat Ki Dastan'.

Now, that's a real heavy name!

It is believed that the documentary is currently getting scripted and will go on floors in September this year.

The documentary will have interviews of actors who have been close to Dilip Saab such as Saira Banu, Waheeda Rehman, Manoj Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan.

Famous writer Amit Shanker will be giving his voice for the narration.

I wonder if Dilip Saab's affairs and controversies (read: the affair with Madhubala and the liaison or second marriage or whatever with Aasma) would also be a part of the documentary.

Well, if this Ashoke guy is looking at a career ahead, he should keep the documentary to Dilip Saab's achievements and leave the controversies to us!
