The only reason we aren't seeing any more of Darsheel Safary on the silver screen is the condition his father has set for him. The little wonder is not allowed to pursue acting, until his academic performance improves.
For this student of Green Lawns, it is academics first and acting later. After a critically-acclaimed role in Taare Zameen Par, Darsheel has refused all banners, big or small and says that he wouldn't be acting in films anymore.
Darsheel is presently in Switzerland, holidaying with his family. When contacted, his father, Mitesh Safary, confirmed the news saying, "Yes, Darsheel will not sign any more films as his studies need his strict attention at this point of time. He was a brilliant student once, but his results have now dropped to just above average."
When questioned that such a decision would take a brilliant actor away from the industry, Darsheel's father answers, "Darsheel sure is extremely keen on doing more films but as parents, we have to keep a check. He will get a lot of credit if his films do well, but for every wrong choice taken, the blame will be on us."
Darsheel's father further reasons, "Seeing Darsheel's eagerness to pursue films, we will definitely consider the options. But we have told him that only if his weekly test grades are very good, we shall consider the options."
A huge offer opposite Sanjay Dutt is not the only one Darsheel turned down. His father acknowledges the offers and questions raised about when Darsheel will do his next film and says, "There is no answer to it yet, until he proves himself. The offers will have to hold back, until Darsheel proves himself in academics."
Blog and Tackle
Following his mentor Aamir Khan's footsteps and as suggested by Mrs Bajaj, his school principal, Darsheel is all set to start his own blog and website. Mrs Bajaj thinks this is the best way for Darsheel to interact with his numerous fans.
Says father Mitesh Safary, ''Yes, Darsheel's website is under construction and soon he'll be blogging and keeping in touch with his fans.''
