Bhagyashree, who vowed audiences with her innocent beauty in her debut, Maine Pyar Kiya with Salman Khan is back in action with Red Alert, the War Within. So what made her jump on the Red Alert bandwagon?
"Ananth Mahadevan is a dear friend and we had tried to work earlier but the scripts could not work out. With Red Alert, something connected me to the script because it is so flawless and riveting and I was getting a chance to work with actors like Nasseruddin Shah, Ayesha Dharker, Seema Biswas, Vinod Khanna and so many talented actors. Red Alert is a meaningful film with a message, so I chose to do this movie," say Bhagyashree in praise of the Red Alert team.
Speaking about her role in the film, the conservative actress says, "I play Narsimha's wife and she is very emotional, she is the only character in the movie that is grounded. She offers the film's emotional content and emotional connect. She connects to Narsimha emotionally to bring him back to his simple life, away from the Naxalites."
She further adds, "Usually we watch Metro cinema which 70% of India's rural population cannot relate to. Red Alert will appeal to the classes and the masses, especially the villagers because it is their life, problem and solutions. This movie can bring forth national issues and has the potential to win a National Award. So I am really proud to be a part of it."
When we asked her where she was all these years, she laughed saying, "I was not totally away from the limelight. I did regional cinema including Konkani, Bengali, Marathi and Bangladeshi cinema."
Bhagyashree was last noticed in a special appearance in Raj Kanwar's Humko Deewana Kar Gaye in 2005. Her movie Janani went unnoticed.
