Love is in the air for Abhi-Ash on their first anniversary
Mumbai, April 20: It has been a year since Aishwarya and Abhishek tied the knot. Their wedding was perhaps the biggest event Bollywood witnessed last year. The scene would go all the more exciting when the couple celebrate their first year of togetherness, today, in Miami.
"Abhishek is shooting in Miami for 'Dostana' on their marriage anniversary. And Aishwarya is going to be with him," Dad Amitabh Bachchan told reporters. From 'Dhai Akshar Prem Ke' to 'Sarkar Raj', the two have indeed come a long way. They still look flushed in love and the Bollywood diva has definitely shaped into a perfect Indian wife. Ash will be going to Miami with Abhishek. Parents Amitabh and Jaya might also join the kids. Although Amitabh is currently shooting for the films, 'Alladdin' and 'Teen Patti', he would certainly get there to spend some quality time with beta and 'beti'.

During initial years of their work together, Abhi began calling Ash 'Number Nine' because she was named the ninth most beautiful woman in the world by a magazine. However, Abhi and Ash starred in many films together, like 'Kuch Na Kaho' and 'Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke', paired opposite each other, the cupid struck on the sets of 'Umrao Jaan', when even the off-screen chemistry between Abhi and Ash made headlines. The love blossomed and they got engaged during the making of 'Guru'. While Aishwarya gushed over her new tag 'Aishwarya Rai Bachchan', the two made their first public appearance post marriage at the Cannes film festival.

Aishwarya has made the best attempt to fit in as the perfect 'Bachchan bahu'. She even refused to do a film with John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan in the lead because she thought her love for Abhishek would show through and it would be unfair to the audience. Father-in-law, Amitabh added that his bahurani Aishwarya, a celebrity in her own right, fits perfectly into Bollywood's most glamorous household. Before the couple got married, speculations were rife whether Ash would be able to live up to the heritage of the Bachchans. But she, with pride and dignity, has maintained a good balance of her career and family. Big B has also shown his immense love for bahu Ash by presenting her with a girls' school in Pune.
The 'Jodhaa-Akbar' saga
Post marriage, 'Jodhaa Akbar' was Ash's first mega hit. At the premiere of the film, the Bachchan family stood beside Ash. While the Hrithik-Aishwarya jodi was highly appreciated, rumour mills went rolling speculating about Abhishek's apparent insecurity over Ash-Hrithik chemistry.
