Check out the stars of Tashan!

One of 2008's big releases is just two weeks away. Yes, we're talking about Tashan, produced by Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films. The film marks the directorial debut of Vijay Krishna Acharya, who wrote the screenplay and dialogue of the blockbuster Dhoom series.

Tashan, which means 'style', is about four characters, played by Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. We take a closer look at their stories.

Akshay Kumar as Bachchan Pande There is lot of confusion about Bachchan's age. He feels 28; the police records put his age down to 30 but his chachi feels he is 26. His life's ambition is to become a killer. He works as a recovery agent at a bhai's place and has recovered everything from a cow to a bungalow.

He has never fallen in love and doesn't plan to in the near future.

With Tashan, Akshay returns to Yash Raj camp after 1997's Dil Toh Pagal Hai.

Speculation is rife that the actor was roped in to boost Yash Raj's recent rather bleak box office record. Last year, the production house suffered a string of flops like Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Laaga Chunari Main Daag and Aaja Nachle. Chak De! India was the banner's sole winner.

In contrast, Akshay's 2007 releases like Namastey London, Heyy Babyy and Welcome had a good run at the box office.

Saif Ali Khan as Jimmy Meet Jimmy Cliff, a Casanova by birth, whose real name is Jeetender Kumar Makhwana.

Though he trains people to speak better English at a call centre, his true calling is pataoing a girl in record time.

An incorrigble flirt, his interest stops short of marriage.

Saif and Akshay are working together after a gap of almost 10 years, their last film together being Aarzoo. The duo have done a total of five films together. Incidentally, the duo worked in the Yash Raj film, Yeh Dillagi earlier.

For all you trivia lovers, here's a interesting one: Saif's eight-year-old son, Ebrahim, makes his Bollywood debut in Tashan. He plays Saif's son.

Kareena Kapoor as Pooja Singh And now we come to the sexy young thing called Pooja, a woman who cannot be trusted.

She becomes Akshay's latest assignment after she fails to return a loan.

One of the most talked about scenes in Tashan is the one that features Kareena in a bikini.

The actress, who has lost a lot of weight, is said to be looking very slim and stunning in the itsy bitsy two-piece.

Incidentally, it was on the sets of Tashan that Kareena fell in love with Saif, and split with her boyfriend of four years, Shahid Kapoor.

Anil Kapoor as Bhaiyyaji The real name is Lakhan Singh though he's better known as Bhaiyyaji. Unmarried, Bhaiyyaji wants to tie the knot soon. And even though he is uneducated, he has the degree certificates from all colleges.

A self-made man who has done everything from pulling rickshaws to extortion, Bhaiyyaji's ambition is to speak English as fluently as US President George W Bush.

After regaling us with his fruit-munching habits in Race, Anil's Tashan avatar will see him with tattoos all over his body!

In the past, the actor has experimented with his looks by shaving off his moustache (Lamhe), gaining weight (Badhaai Ho Badhaai) and toning his body (Musafir).

Helping the actors in the looks department is designer Akki Narula. Vishal-Shekhar have scored the music while Vaibhavi Merchant has choreographed the songs.

Hollywood action director Peter Hein is the man behind the film's daredevil stunts.
