Dollywood: The new Bollywood favourite!

There was a time in the recent past when majority of the Hindi movies were Bombay based, with either the underworld or the hectic life of the city forming the backdrop. However, things are now changing. If we check out some of the recent as well as the upcoming ventures, the focus seems to have shifted to the Indian capital New Delhi and the NCR.

Rohit Shetty's Ajay Devgan-Ayesha Takia starrer SUNDAY was totally based in and around Delhi. Prior to that a major chunk of the Aamir Khan-Kajol starrer FANAA was also shot and based in Delhi. Talking about the present, three upcoming ventures, Subhash Ghai's Anil Kapoor starrer BLACK & WHITE (released), Abhishek Bachchan's DILLI 6 (D 6) and Akshay Kumar's, CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA, all have the Indian capital, Delhi at the centre stage. Interestingly, in the last three mentioned movies, it's the hustling and bustling Chandni Chowk area that is the integral part of the plot. In fact, the 6 in DILLI 6 refers to the postal code of the area (Chandni Chowk).

While on DILLI 6, just a few portions of the film have actually been shot in Delhi and the film has been majorly shot on a set resembling Chandni Chowk (in Rajasthan), rather than the actual location, much like in Karan Johar's KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM.
