Abhishek and Aishwarya turn down 'Abhimaa

Abhishek Bachchan has declined an offer to star in a remake of 'Abhimaan' with wife Aishwarya. The 1973 classic directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee had featured his parents Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan nee Bhaduri in lead roles. 6 February 2008 (Sawf News) - Abhishek Bachchan has declined an offer to star in a remake of Abhimaan with wife Aishwarya. The 1973 classic directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee had featured his parents Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan nee Bhaduri in lead roles.

The offer by director Rajeev Menon would have invited comparisons between Abhishek and Amitabh, something that Abhishek would like to avoid, reports Mid Day.

Rajeev, who worked on the film Guru with director Mani Ratnam is well known to Abhishek and was confident of getting a nod from Abhishek.

Abhimaan was a sensitive film that dwelt on how a popular singer gets eclipsed by a simple but talented wife.

Besides being weary of stepping into the shoes of his illustrious father, a colossal by any yardstick, Abhishek's decision not to sign up for the remake may also have been influenced by the parallels between his own life and the story line.

Abhishek's forthcoming films include Drona (Post Production) directed by Goldie Behl with co-stars Priyanka Chopra, Jaya Bachchan and Kay Kay Menon.

Sarkar Raj (Post Production) directed by Ram Gopal Varma with co-stars Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Tanisha, Victor Banerjee and Supriya Pathak.

Dilli 6 (Filming) directed by Rakeysh Mehra with co-stars Sonam Kapoor, Om Puri, Waheeda Rehman and Divya Dutta.

Dharma Production's Next - 2 (Announced) with co-stars Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham.

he shdnt decline the role he can prove his acting skills in the film no doubt he is a gud actor but still he shd atlest accept this offer

But maybe now he don't want people to cash too much on Ash-Abhi-Big B-Jaya combo....

You can see on IF also how many people hate Bachchans...and blame them for everything and over exposure.

I think it is a good idea that they sign films opposite different actors. Abhi should be with Sonam, Priyanka, Deepika or so...

Ash shoul dbe doing lesser movies but with more content.

i think it would b a good remale if ash and lil b did it...

Im glad he declined....its bad enough that they want to remake such a classic but to take Abhi-Aish in it would just give people the chance to bash them and say that their trying to copy his parents success in the exact same film.

A classic like Abhimaan should never be remade... I just wont be able to take it!

If I really had to see a remake of abhimaan, it would be with Abhi and Rani...aish doesnt fit into the role at all...

Yup you are right.

I can see Abhi-Rani in it but not Ash.

Abhi would be the perfect choice looking after his acting.he does a great jobin the mature serrious roles....

I think maybe Abhi and Vidya would make a good pair for this movie too.
