Deepika, Aishwarya - who will play female lead in 'Robot'?

Chennai, (IANS) Media is abuzz with reports that director Shankar is very keen to sign up Deepika Padukone for his sci-fi "Robot" opposite Tamil superstar Rajnikant.

The second name doing the rounds is that of 35-year-old Aisharwya Rai, whose historical romance "Jodhaa-Akbar" is releasing in February.

However, sceptics feel that neither Deepika nor Aisharwya will accept the offer because both the actresses prefer to work with Mani Ratnam.

Even for Shankar's earlier venture "Sivaji: The Boss", the rumour mill had predicted Aisharwya would play the female lead opposite Rajnikant, but finally low-profile Shriya Sharan was roped in.

After teaming up with the star in hit flick "Sivaji...", Shankar last week announced that he will repeat the 57-year-old actor in "Robot" and that A.R. Rahman will compose the music.

It is not for him to pick. Deepika or Aishwarya should also agree. Looking at present scenario, I don't think either will agree to work in it.

I think he shud pick deepika, if not her then he shud consider priyanka chopra. but defo not ash.

whose shankar and rajnikant is 57 YEARS old! I dont know why he is still romancing girls half his age or alot younger den him! i saw him on tv few days ago he looked like an old grandpa! 😆 Seriously none of our Bollywood actresses woudl want ot act with him! Atleast not in terms of being an opposite to him as an actress

Lol guys he is actually the hero..
I wouldnt like to see deepika opposite him... and its a tamil version not hindi....

The director is keen to sign her for the role..but looking at deepika other commitment, i dont think she will be even able to shoot for the film!! she has to shoot for her other films too..

Does it even matter who plays the lead? ... No offense but both Deepika and Ash are "robotic" and almost plastic in terms of how they carry themselves.

No wonder it was these two they zeroed into when it came to a movie titled "robot"
