Bollywood's New Years' Resolutions for 2008
A new year marks an opportunity for great change; and the same goes for those celebrities who might have missed the boat this year. At BollySpice, we have taken the cue to create personalized New Years' resolutions for these celebrities to save them the work. Let's hope they listen!
Katrina Kaif and Bipasha Basu will stop batting their eyelashes and do something worthy in the acting department...
Sure, both Katrina Kaif and Bipasha Basu may have enjoyed a good run at the box office this year, but little credit can go to them. Katrina simply mooches off of big stars like Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan to ensure box office successes. Out of five films this year, we only really saw her act in Namastey London. Bipasha Basu on the other hand had quite a boring year with a miniscule role in Goal and a bizarre item number in No Smoking. We've seen Bipasha do it in Corporate and we know Katrina has it in her. The problem is…will we ever get to see the talent a real actress is supposed to have?
salman Khan will stop sleepwalking through roles...
He may have had a thundering hit in Partner, but most of the credit falls into Govinda's lap. Salman on the other hand seems to have lost the will to give us good performances and good films as he hasn't given even one memorable performance all year. In Salaam-e-Ishq he did nothing but look good and put on a horrible accent. Is Katrina Kaif rubbing off on him?. Even in his special appearance in Saawariya, he barely looked as if he was there. In fact, in each and every one of his roles this year he seemed half-asleep. Let's hope he wakes up soon and decides to act the way we know he can.
Himesh Reshammiya will lose the cap for good...
Really Himesh-bhai, it's getting old. And so are you—precisely the reason you needed a hair transplant in order to feel young and youthful once again. As the novelty of your nasal-ness wears off, so have the laughs triggered when we see you in your cap. In fact, it's become quite an annoyance. Come on, you have hair now—show it off! You might just bag yourself a shampoo commercial.

But here in Bollywood, I hate to inform you that you still haven't done anything extraordinary. We're proud as hell of you and the fact that you know how to uphold your values, but Celebrity Big Brother is long over and we're sick and tired of hearing how many people know about you Overseas. In 2008, try showing us more good work and then you can harp on all you want.

Please don't underestimate the audience—after seeing you flaunt your assets for the umpteenth time we do get it. Just because you have them, doesn't mean you have to keep them hanging out of your dress at each and every event you attend. So please, this upcoming year, we'd love to see you for the woman you are without having to turn away in disgust.

Speaking of fashion sense, Vidya Balan is another one in grave trouble except for the opposite reasons as Celina. Vidya is a naturally beautiful woman with great charm and elegance but one wishes she'd show it off more rather than draping herself in clothes that make her look like an aunty-ji. Modesty is nice, but boring and bland just makes us yawn!
Bobby Deol and Abhishek Bachchan will comb each other's hair...
Though they were both great in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, 2007 has been one long bad hair day for Bobby Deol and Abhishek Bachchan. As a result, we've decided to suggest that the two get together for some male bonding and comb each other's hair. Abhishek's long Drona hair-do is understandable but it's still hard to understand why it always has to look greasy. On the other hand, Bobby Deol is stuck in the 70's with an afro he refuses to tame. For the New Year, let's hope the two pay more attention to grooming themselves. We promise, the hairbrush is on us!
Rani Mukerji will promise not to use glycerine for the entire year...
Though we asked her the same thing last year, she doesn't seem to want to listen as both Ta Ra Rum Pum and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag proved that Rani Mukerji is a fan of tears—and a whole lot of them. Thankfully in Saawariya the tears were held back and Rani was far more likeable. Let's hope the contracts of her upcoming films don't require waterworks—it's time to turn the tap off. If not, we might just have to hide the glycerine!
Aishwarya Rai will sign movies with actors other than Abhishek Bachchan...
All in the family is nice, but watching Aishwarya paired with Abhishek for all her upcoming films might just get a bit tedious. Every time you think it's over, some filmmaker or another announces their plans to make a film with the newlyweds. Though none have materialized other than Sarkar Raaj just yet, let's hope Ash looks towards the pool of great actors we have out there. The recent announcement of a film with John Abraham is very encouraging!
