The on going Aamir Khan - Amitabh Bachchan verbal duel over Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black was actually started by Aamir to defend his pal, filmmaker Kunal Kohli but has ended up misfiring.
Months later, with his directorial debut Taare Zameen Par release around the corner, a media recluse, Aamir started giving out interviews in support of Kohli and hit back at Bhansali for criticizing Fanaa by disparaging the bearded director's Amitabh – Rani starrer. His comments were directly aimed at Bhansali's failure of handling a sensitive subject that involved a handicap child as an important character.
But in his attempt to get back at SLB, Aamir ended up hurting the Big B when he commented about the lead cast's performance in Black being over the top. Bachchan Sr. had immediately retorted – "I cannot comment whether my performance was towering or not, but Aamir may be right - maybe the performances did go 'over the top' of his head."
The Rang De Basanti star is now keen on clearing the mess out by taking an appointment with Big B but as of now there is no such willingness being shown by the ageing superstar.
Kunal Kohli preferred to remain out of this and did not reply to our messages or phone calls to comment in this regard.
