With a variety of roles in your kitty, do you feel this is the best phase of your career?
Definitely! I find it absolutely amazing to portray an ensemble of roles that give me an opportunity to break away from the stereotype. In reality, if you see, every actor is selfish.
All of us are in a constant effort to prove our capabilities. The various characters that I have played through the last year make me realise that I couldn't have had a better time for myself and my career. I also have varied roles in the upcoming 'Crazy Four', 'Dus Kahaniyan' and 'Alibaug'.
Does being a beauty queen make it difficult to prove your prowess as an actor?
Firstly, when you are beauty pageant winner, entering the industry is not tough at all. That is something that comes automatically for every winner. But the challenge is to get a strong foothold and space for your self in the industry. This is true, whether you look in India or even abroad.
Your upcoming movie 'Dus Kahaniyan' has created quite a buzz.
The first time I heard the script of 'Dus Kahaniyan', I completely fell for it. As an audience too, I'd love to see something like this. Also, it was a challenge to round off your character in a short span of mere 10 minutes in the movie. Also, this is the first time that I have worked with Manoj Bajpai who is a power house performer.
Rumours suggest that you had a disturbed relationship with director Apoorva Lakhia ('Shootout at Lokhandwala').
A whole lot of information that comes out most of the time is politicised. You know it very well when the news is meant to inform and when it's meant to malign. When you are new to the industry, it does make an impact on you. However, all these things become trivial over a period of time. Negative publicity doesn't affect you then.
Comment on your newfound friendship with Sushmita Sen.
Sushmita has always been a friend. You may not talk to a person on a daily basis or hang out with him or her at every party. But you could still share a special relationship with them. That's the kind of chemistry that I share with Sushmita.
Apart from acting, what are your other interests?
I read or at times go horse-riding. In fact, for my upcoming movie 'Alibaug', I had to learn pottery. However, now I am so much into it that whenever I have free time on my hands, I hit my pottery workshop. It's caught me like a rage and I love doing it.
