This is what I love about SLB's movies. Each and every one of his movies has always sparked questions in my mind. And I have always ended up in a discussion with someone or the other.

Imagining every character as real and as presented, what would really have happened if Ranbir met Imaan and gave him the letter?

Good question. This reminds me of how SLB imagined the meeting of Paro and Chandramukhi in Devdas. They never meet in the actual story. We can think about what could have happened if Imaan met Ranbir. Maybe if Saawariya is remade in a different format 20 years from now, someone will make them meet and do something interesting to the story!!

A theory regards to the pinning:....

Maybe Gulabji was trying to express her relationship with her profession (prostitution).....Sakina was pinned to prevent her escaping from her life/world controlled by her grandmother.....maybe Gulabji was trying to explain how she can not break free from the life she leads as well, so she was hoping a saawariya would come and take her away?

That is an excellent point.

Isn't it amazing that every character is painted according to Gulab ji's wish. So now I am seeing more and more of Sakina in Gulab ji and vice versa. Also Gulabji's partial portrayal of Saawariya. 😊

Brilliant interpretation...👏👏👏...I am satisfied with this explanations...These are the things that make a movie more piognant and beautiful...

BTW, I wish SLB joins our discussions too...I want to know if he also thought so much into these characters, or its just us...😉

It is just us. According to SLB all his characters are real. But then every creator intends his work in a certain way but it is upto the reader/audience to interpret and analyze it.

Like my favorite poet Robert Frost who was criticized and applauded at the same time for

"The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."

Lovely Maya.....that was apt analogy......

Yes, to me a book a movie can come alive when I can go back and think of many ways it can and could have been interpreted.

This movie has that in it....take it as is and glum up saying it was boring.....see the surrealism of each scene, analyse it and you shall have something beautiful...

Mind you, not all movies can do that, but Saawariya has that in it from the moment go.......

Then what really happened out there... why have so many reviewers seriously bashed the film, and why have so many critics panned the film?

If you ask me, this negative word-of-mouth has been seriously detrimental on a micro-scale... because so many of my friends who were eager to go watch it, later on started making excuses about not wanting watch it... 'oh this critic said it's crap' and yak-yak...

Does it really deserve to be called a 'flop'? I don't think so, AT ALL.

What about you?😊

well these reviewers are use to watching cheap comedies like "hey Baby" so that is their level. ANything above that just goes above their head.

SLB gave us a product. It is upto us to interpret😛. We are doing that because there is scope for it.
