Post his fall out with Shirish Kunder (Jaan-E-Mann) over playing the lead in the editor turned filmmaker's next, Joker, Shah Rukh Khan has withdrawn his stake from the film.
The King Khan's production house Red Chillies Entertainment was going to invest a sizeable amount in the Rs 100 crore project and handle the post production work for it but now with Akshay Kumar being signed for the fantasy thriller, SRK has decided that he will have nothing to do with the project.

An industry source informs, "The Chak De India star was Shirish Kunder's original choice for playing the title role of Joker. After he had discussed the first draft of his script with SRK, the superstar had readily agreed to fund a part of the highly budgeted film. The subject of the action film was such that it required humungous special effects. SRK's newly expanded post production wing of Red Chillies Entertainment was going to take care of these special effects by importing special state of the art technical facilities from abroad."
"But when everything was looking picture perfect and as the industry was awaiting the official announcement of the film, reports started rolling in about differences cropping up between the Jaan-E-Mann maker and Shah Rukh. It was alleged that SRK had directed Kunder to re-write certain portions of the Joker script but the maker had full confidence in his work and did not oblige thus leading to a clash. Then one heard Shirish declaring Akshay Kumar, who had acted in his debut directorial venture, as his hero for Joker. Just at that time Shah Rukh was actually willing to mend his differences with his best buddy, Farah Khan's (Main Hoon Naa, Om Shanti Om) hubby, Kunder and get going with Joker. But this announcement by Kunder got him extremely displeased. He was expecting some communication from the maker but it never came across and this lead the superstar to withdrawing his involvement from the project. He doesn't want his company to associate itself with the film anymore even if it means for post production," the source adds.
Shirish had edited SRK produced Main Hoon Naa (2004) directed by wife, Farah Khan and just finished editing the King Khan's home production, Om Shanti Om which will be released this Diwali. But from the looks of it, it seems very less likely that the Chak De India star will be repeating him for his next.
Shirish refused to pick up our calls or reply back to our SMS whereas SRK's production company, Red Chillies Entertainment's officials refused to comment about this issue.
