Govinda's daughter, Narmada will be joining Bollywood as assistant director to Rakesh Roshan. She will be working on the prolific director's next which is a sequel to his Krrish and tentatively titled Krrish 2. Seventeen year old Narmada was recently in the news for walking the red carpet at IIFA with Salman Khan.
After Govinda told her to learn filmmaking by assisting technically proficient Bollywood directors, he asked her to pick a name and he would set her up with him, the source said, "the first name Narmada came up with was Rakesh Roshan's."
Govinda had worked in Khudgarz (1987) which Rakesh Roshan had directed so he knew him quite well, the source said, "But he told Narmada to approach him on his own. She did that and Rakesh Roshan said yes."
"He told her to join him right away as he had already started work on the pre-production of Krrish 2, the planning and scripting," the source added.
Rakesh Roshan said, "My film still has a few months to go before it's on sets but I am glad to have her on board."
Govinda was unavailable for comment.
Narmada will be following several star kids who took their first step in Bollywood as assistant directors. Hrithik Roshan had assisted his dad for Karan Arjun and Koyla before debuting in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. Anil Kapoor's daughter and Rishi Kapoor's son Ranbir Kapoor both debuting in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Sawariya later this year, earlier assisted the Devdas maker for Black. In fact when they met him they didn't even tell him about their filmi background. Kirron Kher's son Sikander Kher too assisted Bhansali during Devdas.
