Himmesh Reshammiya, who shot for Teen Bahuraniyan yesterday, had the option of using a body double in case he couldn't manage the long shoot. But the energetic singer was able to perform till midnight without a single complaint except for the fact that his idle double couldn't stop telling the press how he was doing Himmesh's scenes.
Tanu, executive producer Teen Bahuraniyan says: "We were upset with the body double guy because he just wanted cheap publicity for himself. We threw him off the sets immediately after he unnecessarily told everyone that he was going to do Himmesh's scenes. We don't even know his name. He was just a junior artist and a few of them always do this kind of thing for publicity.
We thought that we would have to use a body double for Himmesh so we kept someone as an option, but finally we didn't need to use him. We thought Himmesh, being a big personality, may not have much time but he is a very nice guy and he waited till the shooting finished."
In the special episode of Teen Bahuraniyan, the eldest lady in the family wants to meet Himmesh as she is his biggest fan. Her family members then arrange a surprise visit for her with the singer.
According to Tanu, Himmesh had none of the starry airs that they expected. "Himmesh performed his song from Aap Kaa Surroor-The Real Story yesterday. He was dancing throughout the performance. He is a very cooperative person and stayed till midnight to give all his shots. People say Himmesh throws tantrums, but as soon as he came on sets, he touched the feet of Deepak Gheewala (a renowned Gujarati theatre actress). Himmesh himself is gujju and knows many actors from the show. He was chatting with everyone and was very friendly."
The cast and crew wanted to have dinner with Himmesh but as their shooting got delayed they only managed to pack in a little time to have snacks like cutlets and khandvi with him at tea time."
An appropriate gift
The three bahus from the younger generation gave Himmesh something to remember them. A slightly embarrassed Himmesh says, "I don't really believe in giving or receiving gifts. I am not a legend to accept gifts. I came here to promote my film by an invitation from Zee TV. This gift is surely going to be a nice, memorable one and I will open it when I reach home".
However, Amrapali Gupta spills what's behind the wrapping saying: "We gifted him a black cap. I went to buy it myself yesterday. I'm not going to give you the price but let's just say that it costs about a thousand bucks. When we gave him the gift he asked us if it was a prank. We told him to open it and check but he said he would when he was home. Himmesh looked handsome yesterday. He is very down to earth. He performed Tera mera milana from his film."
Teen Bahuraniyan airs from Monday to Thursday at 10.30 pm. The episode featuring Himmesh will be on air in two weeks. Himmesh's film Aap Kaa Surroor-The Real Love Story will release on the 29th of June; his mother's birthday. Himmesh hopes that the day will prove lucky for him as he awaits the judgment for his film next Friday. He says, "I'm waiting for the reactions. I believe in my destiny and my film. Aap Kaa Surroor is a gift to my fans. It is they who will now decide my future as an actor."
Aap Kaa Surroor stars Hansika Motwani opposite Himmesh and it is believed to be based on the singer's personal life. His successful music album with the same name inspires it. The film will reveal why his videos often show him as a sad lover and have tragic endings. It has been shot in Germany, Bangkok and Singapore.
Himmesh may be anxious about his future in Bollywood but musically he has little to worry about. He has many assignments lined up for 2007 and 2008.
