'I think Bipasha has a great complexion'
They may look effortlessly gorgeous, but almost every celebrity gets their glowing complexion from following an organic skin care routine. And we are not just talking Bollywood, but also the fashion pack, socialites, models, everyone…How do we know this? Because all of them get their beauty products from Yatan Ahluwalia, the man responsible for bringing the organic skin care line Susan's Soap & More to India.
"We have loads of celebrity clients because this is a hundred percent natural product with no chemicals or preservatives added to it," says Yatan, Director and head of operations at Y&E style media. "Most of the products are hand-made, so they won't have any adverse reactions. In fact organic products are a must if you have sensitive skin." Little wonder then that internationally every celebrity from Gwyneth Paltrow to Penelope Cruz to Teri Hatcher have been making this their must-have beauty buy.
And in case you were wondering why so many celebs were vying to get their hands on this product, the answer doesn't lie so much in the fact that they are supporting an environment-friendly cause.
It's more about protecting their skin against the harsh chemicals. "Being in the makeup field, we (me and my partner Jojo) realised that since so many models are using colour cosmetics, they will need to balance it out with a good skin care regime," says Yatan, who has done make-up for almost every big fashion designer from Tarun Tahiliani to Malini Ramani to Christian Dior. "Yes, of course, going organic will take some time to catch on here. But the trend of using these products is definitely on an upward swing. And once you use organic products, you can never go back."
That said, which Indian celebrity has the best complexion to be the spokesperson for this brand? "I think Bipasha Basu has a great complexion. Also Neha Dhupia, Kim Sharma and of course Aishwarya Rai have the best skin among the film fraternity," says Yatan. "Among the models, I'd say Michelle Innes, Diandra Soares, Carol Gracias and Rachael Reuben. I wouldn't like to have one brand ambassador for the range; I'd rather have a bunch of them."
