I can wait for Rakhi for years: Abhishek Awasthi

Abhishek Awasthi, Rakhi Sawant's boyfriend, says he is ready to wait till Rakhi says yes to marry him. Abhishek, who was a finalist in Zee Cine Stars Ki Khoj, shares his feelings about Rakhi with us.

How did you meet Rakhi?
I met Rakhi through a producer, who was to make a film on both of us as lead, but things didn't work out and the contract was not finalized. But we became friends and used to talk or meet whenever possible. Our friendship grew and Rakhi asked me to work with her as a choreographer. We stared liking each other and now we stay with each other.

When are you both planning to get married?
Rakhi doesn't wants to get involved in marriage and she only wants to stay with me. But I definitely want to marry her. Whenever she makes up her mind, I will marry her in my hometown Kanpur. I will convert Rakhi into a North Indian or it may happen the other way round. I can wait for her for years, till she is ready.

How does it feel to have an item girl as your girlfriend?
Why? Abhishek Bachchan married Aishwarya Rai, who also did an item number Kajra Re. So shall we call him an item girl's husband? There should not be any tag as such because an actress is an actress, who performs a role given to her. Whether it is Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit or Rakhi Sawant, she should be good in everything.

How did your parents and friends react when you told them that you are dating each other?
My parents said told me that I am mature enough to decide what I want to do. It is purely my decision and they will be happy with whatever I decide. My friends also did not have any issues.

How do you feel when Rakhi wears skimpy clothes and dances with other guys?
She does all that as part of her profession. One should be broad minded to accept all this if one has to stay in this industry. It never bothers me that Rakhi dances with somebody else because at the end of the day, I love her and she loves me. I don't feel jealous when I see her dancing in skimpy clothes. After all, it is just acting.

Describe Rakhi as a person?
Rakhi is a baby. She is honest, innocent, lovable and very naughty. Sometimes it irritates me and sometimes it makes me love her even more. She cares for everyone. I am in love with a Rakhi that nobody has seen. She is homely, goes to temples, cooks food, works at home and such. Very few know that she is a good cook.

What do you like about Rakhi the most?
I like her boldness. I have never seen a girl like Rakhi and I think I never will. She has the guts to stand up for what is right and is not worried about anything. She fights for anyone who approaches her with their problems.

What projects do you have on hand?
I have signed an English movie which is based on a Sindhi girl's life in which I play the lead. It has a very strong and good theme. Half of the movie will be shot in Mumbai and half abroad.
