Maria Goretti talks about her new bundle of joy, Zene Zoe | It All Adds Up: Maria Goretti with hubby Arshad Warsi and son Zeke Zidaan | Second-time mum Maria Goretti is back home with newborn daughter whom she and her actor hubby Arshad Warsi have named Zene Zoe. Her first-born son, Zeke Zidaan, is over two-and-a-half years old.
"In Afrikaans, Zene means beautiful, while in Greek, Zoe means life; and in Latin, it means daughter while Zene means music. So she has just got everything in," explains Maria.
Nazar na lag jaye
Ask her for a snapshot of the new arrival and Maria says, "Not now. It is not that I am superstitious but she is too small. When I start going out with her then it's fine."
At the moment it is difficult to decipher whom Zene looks like. "Everyone finds her tiny and cute so it is hard to say at the moment," says Maria. "Zeke already wants to be around her, play with her and wants to sleep in her cot."
Maria delivered on May 2 at 8.41 am at the Lilavati Hospital. As reported 'Delivery scare for Circuit' (Mid Day, May 4), she was slated to deliver at the Breach Candy hospital. But by the time they reached Bandra from their Versova home, the pain was unbearable.
"Arshad was at the wheel and he called up the gynaecologist who referred me to another gynaecologist at Lilavati. It was an emergency situation. I delivered about 10 minutes later and there was no way we would have reached Breach Candy from Bandra in 10 minutes.
It was a normal delivery and everything was just fine, in spite of the initial scare in the car." Maria is glad to be housebound for a while with the baby. "Anyways who wants to step out in the heat?"
As she was in England with Arshad during the shooting of Vivek Aghinotri's Goal, she had indulged in a bit of baby shopping. "There is also lots of Zeke's stuff still around.
During my travels, I keep on picking up stuff. Now that Mothercare is here, one can pick up baby stuff from here as well." Incidentally, Maria and Zeke had done a cameo in Siddharth Anand's Salaam Namaste, which also starred Arshad.
Busy dad
After an extremely short paternity leave, Arshad took off to the sets again. "He is busy with Indra Kumar's Dhol and Vivek Aghinotri's Goal.
In fact, during Goal he suffered several injuries and bruises as he insisted on doing all the action himself. He plays the captain of a soccer team," points out Maria.
