Awsome article, too long but very true. I genuinely beleive srk was a better host since he intereacted wid people very well. He was cool, witty, freindly and contestand used to enjoy playing game wid him. i really miss KBC 😭

i honestly believe that srk is NOT a good actor, he's just lucky (extremely lucky). he hit the jackpot with a few movies and now he has coniviced us all that he is KING KHAN....i seriously think aamir khan is a much better actor than him.

his dialogue delivery basically sucks and he is by far one of the least attractive actors out there.

i did not say u knew nothing about theatre becuz u bashed sallu or srk 😕....i just said how can u think upen is a better actor than sallu, even if u say u've done theatre (it was ur opinion...and i was just curious to know why u think that way)....but the reasons u gave didnt have much to do with sallu's acting ability...it was more on his personal life and how he's corrupted....

back to the real topic......i personally think shahrukh did a better job than Amithabh on kbc.....when amitabh used to host it no one that i knew ever watched it was that boring..but ever since shahrukh started hosting it men it was so entertaining...one could not miss the episode....cannot wait for the next season to come on 😃

well i remember wen mr. amitabh bachchan was hosting the first season...everyone used to be really excited initially...but yes even then i heard from ppl that itz not something u can watch everyday becuz it does get boring...and den the 2nd season...i also didnt noe any1 who watched it...

once srk started...ppl started getting interested in it becuz he led the show with his own style..it gave a different feel from wat had already been seen b4....tho it also wasnt appealing to some ppl i knew...but they felt that it was more entertaining...and the contestants were at ease as well......but since the concept of the game was old...i mean there had already been 2 seasons b4....they kinda got bored of the game itself..

i guess eevrything this article says...Big B was more of the personal figures...and srk was more public...both had their unique styles of hosting it...

I agree with you, i saw a few episodes with Big B, but there were more strict and boring, he kinda made the contestants feel nervouse. whereas SRK eased the stress and nervousness by dancung, singing, giving them massages etc😆.

I totally think that SRK did a better job, and the TRPs also increase with SRK.👏

I will be looking forward to seeing SRK for season 3.😳

I first watched the last epi of KBC3 and was bowled over. SRK has undeniable charm. 😳 That and the ease with which he conducts the show is awesome. I then went back and watched other celebrity-special epis.

I then went back to see some epis with Amitabhji and just couldn't stomach them. They were far too "dry" .. rather strict, question oriented and well boring. I couldn't even finish the Kajol special, despite me enjoying interviews, KWK and such with her.

It was a matter of style...and ultimately I prefer the more animated and personable approach SRK brough to the show. And such an experience has helped him grow as an actor, then great! 😃

I feel both the actors have gotten their own styles...

I cant imagine actor like AB dancing or massaging on the sets of KBC as it doesnt go with his image...

whereas SRK did all possible movements and acts to get his fans or viewers entertained...

if AB does anything or everything what SRK does then what is the significance of AB in its own or SRK... this is where personalities differ... everyone cannot have same style, nature, behaviour, way of thinking, body language exactly how everyone cannot have same voice, height, features etc etc...

so the moral is to accept the person in his/her own style - do not compare one with the other and judge...
AB has gotten a place for himself which he owned inspite of being a family man... so it is not necessary for every superstar to be a public figure or vice versa...
we shud learn from this that Not Everyone Shud be Same by Nature to Be Famous - only hardwork and determination are common in these two stars - that shud be marked as their success factors not style or physical attributes...

OK AB was bad as anchor which is why the TRPs skyrocketed and SRK rocked KBC which is why the TRPs bulleted down!
As Sarah said...well if AB danced and did masaage n all it wud have seemed wierd coz his image is that of a sober personality which is not the case in SRK's...but guess he went overboard "entertaining" which is maybe why ppl got irritated and the viwership fell... 😉

I can see your points... and agree even. It does boil down to personal preference.

Mere speculations here... I wonder if part of the reason people tuned in so often to see the first two seasons was so that they could watch Amitabh Bachchan in a situation where he wasn't playing a role... he has a fan base of at least 3 generations.

I only say that he was boring because that's how his "performance" as an anchor/host came across to me. I've found some of his interviews far more attention-grabbing than his dulled down stint as an anchor.

Physically speaking as well, the sets were a bit drabber than the ones used for KBC3.

From a personal stance, the entire feel of the first two seasons was a bit like walking through molasses at night while reading a calculus textbook (lord forbid that fate ever be bestowed on someone 😆).

Again, strictly from a personal view... KBC3 did bring a lot of energy to the tv sets... in color, style, etc. Also, my position as a fan of SRK's work and his personality lent a biased view.

Perhaps the preferences have to do with the age and culture we live in... everything is bright, loud, attention-grabbing and energetic. We take a break from the humdrum of daily life to watch the masala of a saas-bahu kahani, and KBC3 brought that same masala, in a more toned down and appropriate manner, to the show (a welcome relief from the saas-bahu saagas actually 😆)

Having seen both the American version, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and some epis of the first two seasons of KBC, I can appreciate the changes in format KBC3 presented. It may not have worked for everyone, but the steps taken to energize the show were apparent, a bit bold and created a different atmosphere.

Perhaps the masses aren't as adoring of SRK as they are of ABsr. Perhaps they aren't interested in the masti and masala that (I thought) SRK brought to the show. Perhaps the masses really just want a straightforward quiz show. And if that's the case, Star will have to once again reformat the show.
However, there is a percentage of population that appreciates the changes and the presence of SRK 😉
