What is bunt?

Sorry to display my ignorance like this but i'm really confused as to what they keep referring to when they say that Ash is a bunt.

Is it a caste or separate religion altogether? Thank you to all who reply. 😊

Bunt is a Tulu/Kannada-speaking class found mainly in Southern coastal Karnataka .( Mangalore and vicinity). Last names...Shettys, Hegdes and Rai's...

They follow the matrilineal system....where the girls inherits the property/money. And groom becomes the GHAR JAMAI.

thanks for sharing..thas interesting...but i doubt they will follow that...aish is very much the bahu of bachchans and abhi is the damad of rai's....not ghar jamai...
